CALL FOR PAPERS Early Career Behavioral Economics Conference Bonn, 24-25 June 2016 Following the success of the ECBE Conference 2015, which was generously sponsored by the Russell Sage Foundation, we are now happy to announce that the 2nd Early Career Behavioral Economics Conference will take place in Bonn on the 24-25 June 2016. The conference will be hosted and generously sponsored by the newly founded Behavior and Inequality Research Institute. Objective The goal of this conference is to provide a platform for researchers at the early stages of their career to present their work and receive feedback from both peers and junior faculty members, who will act as discussants. Through the organization of this conference, we aim to promote the development of a strong community of junior behavioral economics researchers. The 2016 edition will include an additional session that features work on socio-economic inequality and child development. We will consider all papers that contribute to these topics and encourage early-career researchers in these areas to submit a paper for this session. Armin Falk, Professor of Economics at the University of Bonn, will give the keynote lecture. Eligibility Any interested junior behavioral economist is invited to apply. This includes graduate students, PostDoctoral researchers, and Assistant Professors who received their Ph.D. after Spring 2011. We will select 20 applicants to present their papers, and 20 additional applicants to serve as discussants. In addition to the regular program, we plan to have a special session on issues related to socio-economic inequality and child development. Papers in this area may explicitly contribute to the area of behavioral economics, although this is not a requirement. Please indicate in the application form whether your paper makes a contribution to these topics. Costs There is no conference fee. Conference meals will be covered for all invited participants. In cases where financial assistance is not available from a researcher’s university, hotel and economy class travel expenses will be reimbursed for presenters and discussants (up to 250 EUR for travel from Europe and up to 1400 EUR for travel from North America). How to Apply To apply, please follow this link and complete the application form by January 29, 2016. After completing the online form, you will be asked to email a pdf document which contains (1) an abbreviated CV (max. 3 pages) and (2) the paper you wish to present OR an extended abstract of the paper to [email protected]. Please merge these files in the specified order into a single pdf that does not exceed 16 MB. If you choose to submit an extended abstract and your paper is selected, you will need to provide your discussant with the completed working paper by May 15, 2016. If financial assistance is needed, please indicate this in the application form. The organizing committee and other external reviewers will review the submissions and select the participants in collaboration with Armin Falk (University of Bonn) and Ulrike Malmendier (UC Berkeley). Selected participants will be notified by mid-March.
