2013 PATH Intl. Region 2 Conference
Abstract Submission Form
HRH of NJ will host the 2013 PATH Intl. Region 2 Conference in Monroe Township, New
Jersey, on March 15, 16, & 17, 2013. Region 2 draws participants from New York, New
Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
The audience will include administrators, therapists, instructors and volunteers from
equine-assisted activity and therapy programs throughout the region. These programs
may provide any or all of the following activities: therapeutic riding, equine-assisted
therapy, equine-facilitated mental health, equine-assisted learning, driving, interactive
vaulting, competition, ground work and stable management.
Workshops on Saturday, March 16, will be classroom-based.
Workshops on Sunday, March 17, will take place at a therapeutic riding/hippotherapy
facility. Horses and/or participants are available for you to use for demonstration
purposes.
The conference theme is:

Strategies to Maximize Favorable Outcomes for Horse and Human
Ideas for presentations include, but are not limited to:
 de-escalating unproductive behaviors in either horse or rider
 encouraging self-regulation for horse or rider
 evaluating riders
 evaluating horses
 matching horses and riders to promote best outcomes
 training staff on sensitivity issues
 building teams
 preventing staff/volunteer/horse burnout
 identifying legal, HR, worker’s compensation, liability issues for nonprofits;
especially in the context of volunteer staff
We encourage:
 emphasis on a team approach to problem-solving
 cross-disciplinary presentations

keep a copy for your records.
Abstracts must be received by September 30, 2012 to be considered for inclusion in the
conference. Presenters will be notified by October 31, 2012 if their abstract was
selected.
