Expectations & Rules
1.
Have fun and gain a LOVE OF THE GAME; CARD is a league of all different skill levels, which allows everyone,
equal opportunity to build on their skills. It is important that we are all supportive of each other and the staff.
a. NO TOLERANCE for players/parents talking to officials.
b. NO TOLERANCE for any players/parents disrespecting other teammates or coaches.
c. NO TOLERANCE for poor sportsmanship during practices or games.
d. On this team, we are going to communicate and treat each other with respect. If I hear anyone
talk negatively about anyone on our team, anyone on other teams, or the referees, they will sit.
2.
We ask that players keep all electronics away during programs (including cell phones). We want to create an
environment about PLAY and social opportunities that are often hindered with electronics. Should a player
need to get ahold of you, they are welcome to use a coach’s cell phone. If you have a family situation where a
player needs to use their own cell phone, please let the coach know before the program.
3.
Please respect the time and energy I have put into practice schedules/game rotations and have your player
dropped up/picked up on time to all practices/games.
4.
Per the National Alliance for Youth Sports, all children in recreational youth sports leagues should be given
equal playing time, regardless of skill or experience. The only situation in which it may be acceptable to restrict
playing time is if a child knowingly misses practices or games for reasons considered inexcusable. Excused
absences must be communicated and may consist of illnesses, doctor appointments, injuries, personal matters,
or essentially the same reasons that a child would be excused from school.
5.
If a player is going to miss a practice or game, the player/parents need to notify me as soon as possible.
a. If a practice/game is missed without notification or is inexcusable, the player will sit out additional
minutes of the next game with no guarantee of equal playing time.
b. Please remember that there will be progression in each practice, so missing a practice will put your
player behind the rest of the team and it will be more difficult to rotate them into the game. Please try
to plan appointments around practice time.
c. Any unsportsmanlike conduct will warrant a reduction in playing time.
6.
Starting rotations will be based on who is putting forth the effort during practice and is constantly showing
positive teamwork.
7.
Open communication is best! However, I ask that no parent approaches me to talk about any team/player
issues directly after a game, or when the team is around. It’s best to show up early to practice and/or make an
appointment with me so I can give you my undivided attention.
If you have any questions please come to me first so we can work out whatever the situation may be. I look
forward to a great season!
