[Checklist of requirements for online registration and information] WEBSITE- information and registration You will need a Worlds BIG Breakfast landing page or at least a link from your home page to the page. Use the same information as in the brochure for content. You need a link from the Worlds BIG Breakfast landing page to the registration form- use the same information as the Worlds BIG Breakfast paper registration form for content. The form should be able to be completed and submitted electronically or able to be printed to be sent by fax or post. The software should be able to cope with any compulsory fields and not allow submission until those fields are completed. A good idea is for the software to be able to send a registration confirmation to the registrant’s email address, and even issue a login and password for returning people, if you can do it. Your local glaucoma association needs to have a mechanism to receive a completed registration form electronically and be able to download/store this form, or at very least to print it for ongoing records. WEBSITE- host help To make The Worlds BIG Breakfast a success you will need to help the hosts. Use this blurb on the Host Help page: Make your Worlds BIG Breakfast a success. You will find information on planning your event and how to have the best breakfast ever! Make sure you check out the fundraising toolkit to help you raise money to be used to increase glaucoma awareness and provide educational resources to the community. Create the following sections on the Host Help page or create links to each of the following sections: Event planning Organising a memorable breakfast but are not sure how to go about it? Here are some ideas to get you started. 1. Pick the date. The ‘official’ date for the Worlds BIG Breakfast is Wednesday 12th March 2013 but you can choose any date during World Glaucoma Week (9th to 15th March) to share breakfast with your family, friends and work colleagues. Let everyone know ahead of timesend out “save the date” emails, text and social media messages. 2. Choose the venue. Is it at home, in a park, at work or somewhere else? What will you do in the case of wet weather if outside? If you are going to be at work or a school, check that is approved, and make sure of your booking before sending out invitations. 3. The guest list. Draw up your list, including contact details and use group mailing lists if appropriate. Social media sites are a great way to ask people. 4. BYO? Do you want people to bring anything, to dress in a certain manner? Will you decorate the space? 5. Invite your guests. Include details like the start time, the location and any other information. Tell people why you are holding the Worlds BIG Breakfast- to Beat Invisible Glaucoma by raising funds for glaucoma awareness and education resources. 6. Anything else? You can approach a local business to sponsor your breakfast, either by donating money, or goods/vouchers that you can raffle on the day. All donations $2 and over are tax deductible and can be easily made online. If an incentive is needed why not offer to display their logo on the day? You can also approach your local media to publicise your breakfast and keep promoting it via social media. Where to hold your Worlds BIG Breakfast Where you hold your breakfast is an important decision so here are a few ideas to consider. 1. Home. Your house can be ideal if your family and friends are attending. If you are hosting a large number of people ensure you have enough plates, etc. and other equipment. Have a wet weather plan if you are outside. 2. Community space. You can go to a park or use a hall or sporting ground if you anticipate a large gathering. Make sure you obtain a booking to ensure you have access. 3. Work. The workplace can be a fun place to be and usually means you can share the organisational load. You can usually invite lots of people as well! Talk to your manager to make it a great success. 4. Educational institution. As a student, a teacher or administrator you usually have access to great facilities, designed to cater for events. Your BIG Breakfast is no different so why not secure your booking today? Event resources Here are some resources to help you host a memorable Worlds BIG Breakfast. 1. Invitation. Here is how you can make the most of your breakfast. 1. Guest donations. Make it easy for your guest to donate by setting up a donations box, and place it in an obvious (and secure) place. You can also tell everyone it is a gold coin or paper note donation to attend on your invitation. Let everyone know they can donate online any time and give them the web link; do the same for guests who couldn’t attend. [https://secure.ciau.biz/glaucoma_org_au/ssl/donate.asp?style=0 for Glaucoma Australia]. 2. Local community. Local businesses are a great source of donations and support. Visit them and talk to them about how they can help- it doesn’t have to be money- as you could ask for goods or services that can be used as raffle prizes or for an auction. A local business or community venue could advertise your breakfast if you give them a poster or send them an email with the details. Your friends may even donate their talents to entertain on the day, or offer services that can also be auctioned on the day- someone will want an electrician or a gardener for a few hours! 3. Social and local media. The more people that attend the more donations you receive so use these media to promote your BIG Breakfast widely. 4. Save the date. Whilst the official Worlds BIG Breakfast is not until Wednesday 12th March, you can hold your event any time during World Glaucoma Week 9th to 15th March, 2013. Get organised and send out a “Save the Date” so you maximise attendance on the day you choose. 5. Enjoy and participate. If you make it an enjoyable event your guests will be more likely to attend and to donate. Organise things that people can do whilst attending, such as simple games, a theme or just being able to pitch in. 6. At work. If you are having your Worlds BIG Breakfast at work your employer may agree to match donations with an equal amount- just ask. You could also add your breakfast to a work event already happening to guarantee attendance. Fundraising banking How you can bank your donations. 1. Online.
