Babson College senior forward Joey Flannery has been
named the DIII News Player of the Year for the second straight
season.
The DIIIN Preseason Player of the Year, Flannery is the
only four-time Player of the Year in NEWMAC history. This
season he averaged 22.4 points and career highs of 7.1 rebounds
and 3.9 assists while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor. He
ranked second in the league in scoring, third in assists and fifth
in rebounds, while recording six double-doubles and scoring
20 or more points on 15 occasions.
Flannery, who is ranked second among active Division III
players with 2,453 points, is the school’s all-time leader in
points. He is also fourth in program history in three-point field
goals (190), seventh in rebounds (736) and ninth in assists
(276).
Flannery is joined on the 2017 DIIIN All-American team
by Ripon’s Ty Sabin, Nate Axelrod of Ohio Wesleyan, Matt
St. Amour from Middlebury and Rochester senior Sam BorstSmith.
DIIIN has selected a Player of the Year every season since
1993-94.
