Find a Psychologist Service – A smart business decision
Dear APS Colleague
This year the APS will expand the reach and appeal of the Find a Psychologist Service to make it the definitive source for
psychologists in private practice.
The Find a Psychologist listing will be expanded to include around 8,500 APS member psychologists. This non-paid
component of the listing will provide practice location and contact phone numbers. It will searchable by location only. Our
premium subscriber Find a Psychologist members will benefit from the expanded reach of this part of the listing and will
be given business-driving priority in search results. They will also be exclusively searchable by issue and many other criteria.
Search results will detail premium subscribers’ expertise and will directly link to websites and practice details, providing
valuable business results for our subscribers.
Publicity about the Find a Psychologist Service will be enhanced by direct promotion to GPs, Primary Health Networks
(PHNS), allied professions, and the broad public.
You may select up to 20 Client Issues within your area of competence. This year there is provision for you to indicate
whether you are an approved provider by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), there are two new Client Issues “Trichotillomania” and “Genetic counselling”, and an additional therapeutic approach, “Schema therapy”.
You are eligible to be listed with the service if you are an APS Honorary Fellow, Fellow, Member or Associate Member; hold
general psychologist registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; and offer private psychology services in Australia.
The Find a Psychologist Service fee for this year has been set at $188 (including $17.09 GST).

Policies of the APS Find a Psychologist Service
Only Honorary Fellows, Fellows, Members and Associate Members who hold PsyBA general registration and offer private psychological services in
Australia are eligible to be listed on Find a Psychologist.
g
Those seeking to access psychological services through the Find a Psychologist Service set out criteria relevant to their enquiry including, the
preferred location of the psychologist, the age or background of the person seeking the services, and the issues related to their seeking help from
a psychologist. Responses to enquiries to the service are provided as follows:
– Online enquiries – the details of all psychologists who match the search criteria; and
–Callers to the service – where possible the details of at least three psychologists who match the criteria identified by the caller. If the caller
asks for a specific type of psychologist, preference will normally be given to Members of the relevant APS College or those with the relevant
area of practice endorsement. In doing so we use Colleges’ competencies as a guide.
g
The annual fee to be listed on Find a Psychologist from 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2017 is $188 (including $17.09 GST). If you join Find a Psychologist
after 11 February 2017, you will pay the same fee but be listed until 31 May 2018.
