LiuGong Announces New EU-Calibrated E-Series Excavators
23 April 2014, Almere, Netherlands – LiuGong, a global leader in manufacturing a full line of
extreme duty equipment, has announced three new excavator machines for the European market
to be made available from May 2014.
The new E-Series of excavator includes the 922E and 925E versions – upgrades from the current
922LC and 925LC machines – and the larger, entirely new 930E machine. In line with current
European Union emissions standards, the 922E, 925E and 930E are fitted with Stage IIIB
engines.
“Each new E-Series excavator has been built on the values that LiuGong strives to achieve in all

European Union, and feel this combined with numerous ergonomic features and an attractive
design will only help to increase the profile of LiuGong excavators in Europe.”
The smaller 922E has an operating weight of 22,000kg and a maximum digging depth of 6595mm;

the 925E has an operating weight of 25,500kg and a maximum digging depth of 6925mm; and the
930E has an operating weight of 31.300kg and a maximum digging depth of 7300mm.
EU-Standard Efficiency
Each E-Series model is equipped with a Tier IV Interim/Stage IIIB Cummins 6.7L engine in
compliance with EU regulations, with varying levels of net power depending on each machine:
117kw@2000rpm for the 922E; 129kw@2000rpm for the 925E; and 147kw@1900rpm for the
930E.
Compared with the previous 922LC and 925LC machines, the 922E and 925E have reduced fuel
consumption by 8% and 5% respectively, and feature increased bucket digging forces of 5% and
11.8% respectively.
The QSB6.7 engines above 130kw are powered by the combination of a proven cooled-EGR
system, a High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) fuel system and a Cummins Particulate Filter.
This combination is complemented by a Cummins-patented VGTTM Turbocharger, which
continuously adjusts the vehicle’s airflow boost to precisely match engine rpm and load demands,
resulting in highly efficient engine performance.
An advanced Intelligent Power Control (IPC) system balances the engine and hydraulic pump to
ensure low fuel consumption, and this is bolstered by the Auto-Idle Speed Function that reduces
engine speed to 1000rpm when the pilot valves are in neutral for more than seven-seconds.

Operating efficiency is further enhanced by an advanced hydraulic system. This optimizes the
main control valve and cylinders to improve the speed of front-end working equipment, while
cutting down on hydraulic damper loss for increased working efficiency.
Six selectable working modes are available to optimize the machines’ performance and fuel
consumption depending on the type of work being carried out: Power, Economy, Fine, Lifting,
Breaker and Attachment. In addition, the machines feature a two-speed automatic shift, enabling
them to go from fast in general circumstances to slow when driving over obstacles.
Should extra power be required while excavating, a power boost control system can be activated
to temporarily increase breakout force by 7% for a greater lifting capacity.
Optimised Operator Comfort and Safety
The 922E, 925E and 930E all feature an ergonomically designed cab with a greater field of view
to ensure safer, more efficient operation. The glass windows have been widened for the E-Series,
and the cab’s roof features an enlarged skylight with a rolling sunshade to provide excellent
all-round visibility.

from a new absorber on the cab that
significantly reduces vibration.
High-power air conditioning and a
specialized arrangement of air outlets
mean the operator can keep cool,
while soft and flexible pilot control
operating handles are convenient and
comfortable to use for extended
periods of operation.
A multi-functional colour LCD screen
is fitted into a new monitor bracket for
greater stability, and its mounting
position means it can be easily
checked by the operator. The
functions of the LCD monitor are to clearly display machine operational states, warnings, audible
alarms and maintenance information in one of seven available languages.

The clearly defined screen also operates as a safety feature by acting as a rear view display,
capturing live images from a camera positioned in the back of the cab to ensure the operator is
aware of their surroundings.
For operator safety, the new ROPS cab meets the ISO 12117-2 Standard for earth-moving
machinery, with Operator Protective Guards also available to improve safety further.
Improved Reliability
The E-series machines feature world class major components, either produced using LiuGong’s
advanced in-house technology or sourced directly from major parts manufacturers. These
components include the engine, the hydraulic main pump and main valve; the newly designed
boom and arm; and the casting joints that contribute to the highly optimized machine structure.
The excavators use a negative flow hydraulic control system which has proven to be highly
reliable in past applications, and in an upgrade from the previous models, the frame of the upper
and lower undercarriage is made from a one-piece plate to provide more stable axles and improve
overall reliability.
With LiuGong’s European headquarters being centralized in the Netherlands, E-Series users
have easy access to spare parts and servicing should a fault occur.
Easy to Maintain
Each E-Series machine has been designed with convenient maintenance in mind. Wide service
doors and a new hood design allow for immediate access to the engine and cooling
compartments from a standing level, with plenty of space to perform the necessary maintenance
checks.
The air conditioning’s fresh-air filter and fuse box are located on the side of the cab, and the
machines’ filters – engine, oil and pilot – are easily accessible from the ground. In regards the
various cooling devices, the radiator, oil cooler and intercooler are laid out in a parallel
arrangement to make them straightforward to clean, remove and install.
Inside the cab, the operator is immediately alerted to any potential issues that might arise by an
onboard fault diagnostic system that displays the machine’s performance on the LCD screen. As
well as identifying any problems quickly, the system’s error codes can be used by a certified
LiuGong service technician to simplify and quicken the repairing process.
