ALS. The Brigance Brigade Foundation is dedicating our efforts in 2017 to honoring his decade of
strength and advocacy in the ALS community.
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and is a progressive,

Message to encourage people to donate to your team:
Hi there,
ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive, degenerative disorder. What does that mean?
Here are a few insights:





Over a period of months or years, ALS causes increasing muscle weakness, inability to
control movement, and problems with speaking, swallowing, and breathing.
The first sign of ALS is usually slight weakness in one leg, one hand, the face, or the
tongue.
Other problems may include increasing clumsiness and difficulty performing tasks that
require precise movements of the fingers and hands. Frequent muscle twitching may
occur.
The weakness slowly spreads to the arms and legs over a period of months or years.
Those who so choose often require a wheelchair, breathing machine, communication
device that recognizes eye movement, and feeding tube.
On Sunday, April 30th, my #RaceforALS team will be participating in the Brigance Brigade
Foundation’s 5.7k Championship Event to battle ALS.
Please help us to reach our goal of $[INSERT FUNDRAISING GOAL] by making a donation of $5,
$10, or $25. We owe it to people living with ALS everywhere.
Thank you in advance for your help,
