Tips for Team Captains
1. Recruit Team Members – 6 to 10 participants is great!



Think family, neighbors, coworkers, church group friends, shopping buddies, etc.
Any group of people can form a “Team.”
Get the word out that you are forming a Team – email friends, facebook buddies,
twitter followers, etc.
2. Conduct a Team Meeting – don’t worry, this can be a formal OR an informal meeting. You
will want to discuss :
 your team’s goal,
 choose your team name,
 brainstorm competition ideas amongst team members AND other teams.
 Bring a Laptop to the meeting and register right there on the spot………………………………
3. Register Your Team – follow this link to the registration page. Do this step prior to any team
members registering. As the Team Captain, you need to register first to create the

Check in bi-weekly to support your team members – remind team members about:
the resources on the website,
schedule walks to get motivated,
discuss the team’s progress on reaching the Team goal, how you can get there AND surpass it!
Make a poster with a thermometer showing the goal, create a “Team Leader” board and post
results.
Keep your team informed on progress and update frequently via facebook posts, twitter
convos, email, text, however best you communicate 
5. You are not alone - Call assigned Cope Team Partner for help or support whenever
need
you
6. HAVE FUN!! - Get creative!
 Personalize your Team page with a photo or company logo.
 Personalize the appeal to potential sponsors, making it personal.
 And always remember the reason – You are making a difference in the life of a local child and
family!
