end of the school year upon us we ask for your help in maintaining your child’s daily routines
at home. Proper rest, completing homework, and a good focus on school will help keep your
child academically strong as we finish out the year. Learning and working will occur up until
May 24th so please help us by enforcing normal routines and an emphasis on school work at
home! This is our last newsletter for the school year and we want to say a big thank you for
supporting your child this year and the school community! It takes a strong relationship
between home and school to maintain high student academic success. We are so proud of
the progress all students made this year. Thank you parents for helping us to make this a

First grade families!
Come celebrate the end of the year by
watching your child perform in the
musical performance "One Big Happy
Family".
The show is on Thursday May 11th and
starts at 6pm!
All students should be at school no later
than 5:45. Please have your child
dressed in Sunday best! We are having
light refreshments after the show and
would like for families to bring a dozen
cookies to share. The students have been
working so hard and are eager to perform
for you. See you at the show!!
Have You?

the year all items will be recycled or donated.
Notes From Nurse Wurm

Counseling Corner
Happy May!
Summer Message
Summer is just around the corner! We
here in the counseling office are
excitedly awaiting the abundant
sunshine and warmer temperatures.
We encourage all students to continue
their learning and to remain active over
the summer months. Here is one way
to promote wellness over the summer
break:
6th Grade Graduation
6th
We formally invite all
grade
parents and/ or their guardians to
Orion Elementary School’s 6th Grade
Graduation Ceremony!
The ceremony will be held on May
24th, 2017 from 2:00- 3:00 pm. A
reception will follow from 3:00- 3:30
pm. All 6th graders are asked to dress
up.
This year’s theme is “Walking the Red
Carpet.” We are planning a special exit
processional following the reception
to mark the students’ final day of 6th
grade at Orion Elementary.
We hope you will join us to celebrate
this special occasion!
Encourage a growth mindset! A growth
mindset is the belief that a person’s
abilities and intelligence can be
developed through practice, hard work,
and motivation.
Children who have a growth mindset
are more likely to:
-Learn from mistakes
-Be motivated to succeed
-Take risks
-Learn more and faster
Parents can do this by offering
appropriate praise, embracing the
word “yet,” taking advantage of
mistakes, and allowing children to fail.
Most of all, have fun!
Wishing you a safe and happy summer!
