Dear members of Friends of Charleston Lake Provincial Park, I

Dear members of Friends of Charleston Lake Provincial Park,
I would like to thank you for providing me with the opportunity to travel
to Orillia, Ontario last month to attend Ontario Nature’s 2016 Youth
Summit for Biodiversity and Environmental Leadership.
My name is Curtis Jackson and I am seventeen years old. I live in
Lansdowne, Ontario and attend Gananoque Secondary School in
Gananoque, Ontario where I am currently in Grade 12. I play many sports
such as soccer, track and field, badminton, curling and cross country and
love to get involved within my school and community. I am a member of
multiple clubs such as TASK, Interact, and Reach for the Top. My
involvement within these clubs has improved my sense of character within
my school and community. With the help of other students and teachers
within these clubs, we work together to host fundraising events for local
charities and businesses, among many other things.
I have always had an interest in the environment and the roles that it
plays in our everyday lives; I used to collect rocks, bones, and feathers.
Recently, I have been thinking of ways to be more eco-friendly in my home,
property, and community. My family introduced a bird feeder and bath to
our yard and more pollinator-friendly plants in our gardens. When I found
out that I was invited to the 2016 Youth Summit, I was very excited. I knew
that this summit would provide me with new information about the
environment that I can share with my family, community, and school.
I had a really great time at the 2016 Youth Summit. It was such an
amazing experience and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to
attend. I met a lot of awesome people who shared interests in the
environment and had similar ideas about ways to be more eco-friendly in
our communities. All of the workshops were very interesting and
informational. As well, YMCA Geneva Park was a fantastic location for the
summit that offered amazing opportunities such as canoeing and hiking.
This experience would not have been possible without your support.
I greatly appreciate this opportunity to represent my school and
community. Thank you Friends of Charleston Lake Provincial Park in
sponsoring me to attend the 2016 Youth Summit for Biodiversity and
Environmental Leadership.
Curtis Jackson
