Fall 2016 Residence Hall Opening at San José State University!

Welcome to Fall 2016 Residence Hall Opening at San José State University!
We are excited to have you move on campus and hope you will have a wonderful year! Residence Hall Move-in
Weekend is this weekend, so we are sending you some important information to help ease your move and check-in to
campus housing!
If you have not already done so, please schedule a check-in appointment to check-in at
https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/ebzg03k/
Please remember to bring your room assignment information and SJSU Tower card, Driver’s License, Passport, or
State ID.
All residents will check-in at the SJSU Event Center and then be directed to their specific building to unload, once they
have their access card and keys
Please see the map below to direct you to the Event Center for Check-In. Please exit from I-280 onto 7th Street heading
North. Park in the South Garage (377 S Seventh St) and place the attached permit on your dashboard.
 Once you park, follow the signs to the SJSU Event Center where you will Check in and receive your access card
and/or key, Room Inventory Sheet, and information packet.
 After you have checked in, you will pick up an unloading permit and return to the South Garage.
 Next you will drive your vehicle to the designated unloading area where volunteers will be available to assist you
with the unloading and move-in process.
We suggest you bring a dolly.
 Once you have unloaded your vehicle, it will need to be moved back to the South Garage (377 S Seventh St)
immediately. You will be able to park at no charge while you return to the room to unpack.
 We invite you to attend one of the Family Welcome programs at 11am or 5pm in the Student Union Theater. This
will give us the opportunity to welcome you to the Spartan Family and share information about Residential Life,
campus resources and ways that you can best support your student.
 MicroFridges are still available to rent for the academic year.
For more information, please visit https://www.collegiateconcepts.net/33/index.html
 San José State University strongly recommends GradGuard Renters Insurance for all students. Renters
Insurance provides valuable protection if a student’s personal belongings are stolen or damaged by a covered
peril. Covered belongings include: laptop computers, smart phones, bicycles, game consoles, textbooks, clothing
and other items.
With the GradGuard Renters Insurance plan, any personal property that is stolen or damaged by a covered peril
can be replaced at full cost, subject to a $100 deductible. GradGuard Renters Insurance also protects students
financially for unintentional damage to university property, or bodily injury to others for which the student is
legally liable, within the residence premises. The cost for this coverage starts at $185.08 for the academic year. A
brochure will be in your Resident packet. For additional information, including coverage details and exclusions,
please visit https://gradguard.com/renters-insurance or call GradGuard at 866-985-7598.
 Weeks Of Welcome at SJSU (WOW) occur the first few weeks following opening. WOW involves a mix of events,
activities, and resources designed to welcome you to your home on campus and life as a Spartan! Be sure to
check out the SJSU WOW schedule once you arrive on campus. See your RA for more information!
