Teens (6th-12th Grade)
FIVE HOUR READING PRIZE
Read for 300 minutes (5 hours) and receive a prize! Continue reading
and continue earning a prize every 300 minutes (5 hours) up to 1500
minutes (25 hours).
DAILY CHECK OUT SCRATCH TICKETS
Every day you check out at least one item at the Burlington Public
Library you can receive a scratch ticket. To receive your scratch
ticket, simply bring your receipt to the Youth Services Desk. Scratch
tickets may win you a variety of instant prizes. If your ticket is not an
instant winner, you can fill out the back for a chance to win a raffle
prize. The raffle will be drawn at our Summer Reading Finale on
Friday, August 25. The more often you check out, the greater chance
you will win! Limit one per day.
RAFFLE PRIZES *NEW THIS YEAR!
Instead of top ten prizes, we will have raffle baskets to earn tickets
for all summer long! Here’s how:
 Earn one ticket every 300 minutes (5 hours) you read (no cap).
 Fill out our book recommendation bookmark, earn one raffle ticket.
 Film a book review/book talk for the library’s YouTube page and
earn two raffle tickets *Video release form must be submitted
with review.
 Participate in a teen event and earn one raffle ticket.
THE MORE YOU DO, THE GREATER YOUR CHANCE OF
WINNING!
Raffles will be on display in the teen area all summer long. Raffle
winners will be announced at the Teen Summer Reading Finale on
August 25.

Early Literacy Program (Birth-Kindergarten) has paper
Reading Logs that must be picked up at the library after online sign up.
Kids (Grades 1-5) & Teens (Grades 6-12) Programs are strictly
done online, and there are no paper logs. Students will be logging
minutes they read over the summer in their Online Summer Reading
Account (Wandoo Reader).

Newt’s Most Wanted: Niffler (Grades: PK - 5)
Poor Newt Scamander has lost his Niffler! The
little critter escaped from Newt’s magical bag and
is now running amuck across the globe. Newt will
be sending letters and picture of where he thinks
the niffler might be. If you guess the right location
you will be entered into a raffle to win a fabulous prize.
Early Literacy (Birth-Kindergarten)
Early Literacy reading logs are 2-sided with a different game on each
side (Rescue the Princess and Fairytale Reading Challenge). When
you finish one side come into the library for a prize.
Each side is eligible for one prize.
You do not have to finish both sides to ask
for another reading log.
Kids (Grades 1-5): Logging Reading
Students will log books and minutes on their Online
Summer Reading Account (Wandoo Reader). Prizes
will be given out for every 300 minutes (5 hours) read.
Students will get their picture taken once they reach
3,600 minutes (60 hours) to put on our Reading
Champs Wall, and will get their name in the local paper!
House Cup Challenge (Grades 1 - 12)
All students in Grades 1 & Up can participate in the “House Cup
Challenge”. Students will be sorted into Houses and the winning
house will be presented with the House Cup at the House Cup
Party on Thursday, August 24.
This challenge is a library and Burlington scavenger hunt.
Students will solve puzzles and hunt for ten codes all summer
long. Codes will be scattered throughout the library, online and at
select locations in Burlington. A list of
instructions and your assigned house will be
given at our Summer Reading Kick-Off Events
on Thursday, July 6.
