BECOMING NOTHING PHILLIPIANS 2:1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit,if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Rather in humility value others above yourself and not looking to your own interests but to the interests of others. Romans 12:3 Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. Phil 2:5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross! What am I trying to become? Luke 17:7-10 Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” 1. He must be willing to have one thing on top of another put on him without any consideration being given to himself 2. In doing this he must be willing to not be thanked for it 3. Having done all this, he must not think that the other person is selfish 4. Having done all that, he must not congratulate himself or be proud about it. 5. Admit that in doing and bearing all that we are bearing, we are not doing one stitch more than what is our duty to do anyway. RELATIONSHIP– CHILD OF GOD ROLE– BONDSERVANT Phil 2:9 Jesus was obedient all the way to the cross. “Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father”! Christianity is not so much about what we do as who we are becoming. Romans12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will. Phil 2:15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
