A. OPENING DATES FOR 2014/2015 ACADEMIC YEAR – SEPTEMBER 2014 INTAKE
JKUAT wishes to inform all students that the opening dates for its various campuses
for 2014/2015 Academic Year, September 2014 intake, will be as indicated below:

Registration will start at 8.00 a.m. All new students are expected to bring with them
the following:

Original and copies of Academic Certificates.
Original and copies of National ID Card or Birth Certificate for those under 18
years of age.
Original and copy of admission letter among other documents specified in
the admission letter. These requirements apply to all new students in all JKUAT
Campuses.
Admission letters for all self-sponsored students were dispatched to all admitted
students from Friday, 8th August, 2014. Admission letters for Government- sponsored
students will be dispatched from Wednesday 20th August, 2014. Those students, who
will have not received their admission letters by Thursday 27th August, 2014 should

contact the office of the Registrar, Academic Affairs or office of the Principal of the
relevant College or Dean/Director of the relevant Faculty/School and Campus.
B. UNIVERSITY ACCOMMODATION FOR GOVERNMENT – SPONSORED STUDENTS
AT JKUAT JUJA CAMPUS
Accommodation for new and continuing Government sponsored students in the
University Halls of Residence will be on first come first served basis. The University is
not in a position to offer accommodation to all Government sponsored students.
Consequently, the University has liaised with private hostel owners with a view to
having students who cannot be accommodated in the University halls of residence
accommodated in University approved private hostels.
All Government-sponsored students who are accommodated in the University Halls
of residence and University approved private hostels will pay a subsidized
accommodation fee of K.shs. 6,500/= (Kenya Shillings Six Thousand Five Hundred
only) per semester during the 2014/2015 academic year, with effect from
September, 2014.
Please note that for students reporting at the main Campus in JUJA, registration has
been devolved to Colleges/Faculty/Schools. Hence all students are supposed to
report to relevant Colleges, Faculty/Schools for registration.
C. PAYMENT OF FEES
All students are required to pay fees at the banks indicated below and bring with
them the pay-in slips for receipting on registration day. Fees will be paid at any
branch of the indicated bank accounts.

D. NATIONAL HOSPITAL INSURANCE FUND
All new students are expected to register with the National Hospital Insurance
Fund (NHIF), and submit photo cards on Registration day.
E. LAPTOP COMPUTERS FOR NEW STUDENTS
It is a requirement that every new student should have a Laptop to facilitate on-line teaching
and examination. The university has made arrangements with a computer dealer to supply
Laptop computers at a price of Kshs. 51,720.00 (Kenya Shillings Fifty one Thousand Seven
Hundred Twenty only) inclusive of 16% VAT. Students are expected to pay for the Laptop in
two (2) instalments at the rate of Kshs. 30,000.oo (Thirty Thousand only) during registration
in September 2014, and K.shs. 21, 721.00 (Twenty-One Thousand Seven Hundred Twentyone only) during second semester registration in January, 2015. The payment is to be made
through the University bank accounts provided above. The Laptop scheme is only for new
undergraduate students in JKUAT Juja Campus. The scheme will be rolled out to other
campuses later.
F. LOAN/BURSARY AWARDS
It is expected that all new and continuing students wishing to apply for loans/bursary
from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) will have done so before reporting to
the University. Such applications should be processed and submitted to HELB before
1st October, 2014. You could download the application form and check the status
of your HELB application through its website www.helb.co.ke.
G. COMMENCEMENT OF LECTURES
Lectures and other scheduled academic activities will start at 8.00 a.m. on Monday,
8th September, 2014, in all JKUAT Campuses.
In the meantime, we look forward to welcoming you to the University for 2014/2015
academic year.
