Children and Young People’s Diabetes Service How to contact the Diabetes Team Please follow the guidance below about how to contact the team during the day and night. The emergency contact numbers are for advice about managing diabetes when you are worried about illness, high blood glucose levels (14mmol/L and above) with ketones (greater than 0.6mmol/L or ++) or hypoglycaemia (blood glucose levels 3.9mmol/L or below) or if you are unable to give/deliver insulin or measure blood glucose levels. Monday – Friday Daytime (8am-6pm) 0151 252 5766 Out of hours (evenings, weekends and bank holidays) 0151 228 4811 & ask for the Diabetes out of hours on call service. You will be put through to the on call member of the diabetes team. If we are unable to answer please leave a message we may be on another call or with a patient. We will call you back within an hour. After 10pm come directly to Accident & Emergency if your blood glucose level is 14mmol/L or more and blood ketones are 1.5mmol/L or more. The hospital has a partial booking system for outpatient appointments. If you need to contact the hospital about your appointment you can do this by phone or on line.
