Cottingham Attendance League Update – Final Round Results Going into the final round of fixtures three teams were still in a position where they could win the league. Year 10 were in pole position with a narrow 1 point lead over Year 6. Year 8’s were also in the position to tie for first place but needed to win and rely on both Year 10 and Year 6 not being victorious. Year 8 got off to a poor start with absences on the Monday whilst Year 6 and 10 were still going strong. As the week progressed the Year 8’s picked up their attendance but a planned family trip meant that Year 10 would be missing one of their students for two full days. This meant that Year 10 and 8 had to keep a close eye on their respective opponents (Year 7 and Year 5) attendance in the hope that they did not score better. This put the Year 6’s in pole position, with several weeks at 100% attendance already, they were facing the Y12/13 group who had only managed 100% once since the start of the competition. The figures were calculated and checked this morning (Monday) and the results were as follows: In an astonishing turn of events, Year 10 lost to bottom of the table Year 7, who finished their fixtures in style with a 100% week. This meant that they added 0 points to their tally. Although the Year 6 students had another fantastic 100% week they came up against a resilient Year 12/13 who also maintained a 100% attendance during a hectic and stressful examination season, so only picked up 1 point with a draw. This put them joint top of the league with the Year 10’s on 34 points. Although the Year 8’s were not on top form, they were fortunate that their 98.3% was enough to overcome the Year 5’s, therefore gaining the 3 points they needed to take them joint top of the table too! With no easy way to decide from the 3 teams who our innaugural Cottingham Attendance League Champions were, we had a slight predicament on our hands so we have decided to take the 3 teams into a sudden death shootout!!! All 3 teams will be playing against each other this week. The team with the highest attendance will win, but if 2 teams have the same highest score it will roll over again to the next week. If any year group’s attendance is below the other two team’s they will be eliminated. Upon releasing the information to the 3 year groups they asked “what happens if we all get 100% attendance for the rest of the year?”. After checking with the head league official (Mrs Hutton) she has confirmed that if all teams are maintain 100% they will all get Pizza and their names engraved on the trophy. Please check the website again next week for an update on the thrilling conclusion to our Attendance League.
