GENERAL LOCAL RULES
The rules of the United States Golf Association govern play. A complete text of the Rules and
Appendix I may be found in the current “USGA Rules of Golf.”
Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for breach of a local rule or condition is:
MATCH PLAY - LOSS OF HOLE
STROKE PLAY-TWO STROKES
CONDITIONS OF PLAY:
LIST OF CONFORMING DRIVER HEADS - Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix 1
is in effect.
LIST OF CONFORMING GOLF BALLS - Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix 1 is in
effect.
TIME OF STARTING - Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix 1 is in effect.
DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY - Players may discontinue play and take shelter if they believe
they are in danger. Note: A suspension for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one
prolonged air horn note. All other types of suspension will be signaled by three consecutive air
notes, repeated. Resumption of play will be signaled by two air short notes, repeatedly.
(President's Note: A lightning detection system has been installed as part of the recently
completed irrigation system)
SPIKE-LESS SHOES - Hunter Golf Club is a spike-less facility. Penalty - Disqualification
LOCAL RULES:
ROADS AND PATHS - Improved roads, paths and their extensions are deemed to be
obstructions whether or not they are artificially surfaced.
EMBEDDED BALL - A ball embedded in its own pitch mark through the green may be lifted,
cleaned and dropped as prescribed in Appendix 1.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR - Defined by enclosed white lines. French drains (trenches filled
with exposed rock) are deemed to be ground under repair. All flower beds (Holes 1,2,6,9,16,18)
are ground under repair.
SODDED AREAS - Through the green, sod seams (not sod itself) are deemed to be ground
under repair, and relief is available under Rule 25-1 if the ball lies in or touches a sod seam or
the sod seam interferes with the area intended swing. All seams within the sodden area are
considered the same seam.
WHITE LINED AREA TYING INTO OBSTRUCTIONS - Have the same status as the
obstruction involved.
INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE - Stonewalls are on integral part of the course. No
relief.
STONES IN BUNKERS - Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions.
FAIRWAY BUNKER - The bunker located away from green on Hole 8 is a designated waste
area.
RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION - When all scores have been posted on the official
scoreboard and approved by the Committee, the results of the competition are deemed to have
been officially announced.
These rules and any local rules distributed by the Committee supersede anything printed on the
club’s scorecard. The Committee in charge of the competition consists of those designated the
Executive Board, whose decision is final. Amendments to these rules will be posted on the day
of play. These local rules are established to ensure fair play, please observe them and help us
protect the integrity of the game.

Ball Found – The player must lift the ball and drop it without penalty within one club length of
and not nearer the hole than the nearest point of relief.
Ball Lost – If a ball in an abnormal ground condition, the spot where the ball last crossed the
outermost limits of the condition must be determined and the ball is deemed to lie in that spot.
The player may substitute another ball without penalty. Rule 25-1(c).
If there is any doubt as to proper procedure, play balls and report to the Committee for a final
