Feature Player of the Week Ian Creamore Ian Creamore may not have size but he’s got on-ice presence. This week’s feature player, an alumni from the Vancouver Minor Hockey Association, contributes to the team’s success through varied and unique talents both on and off the ice. Ian takes pride in his ability to get his opponents off their game. “I am a physical, aggressive, chippy forward who loves to agitate and get under their skin. I tend to play my best when I’m throwing the body around as well as having the skills to put the puck in the next.” Making a bit hit at the start of the game, laying out to block a shot or setting up a team mate for a goal – Ian says he will do whatever it takes to help the team hold a lead and earn a win especially in the dying minutes of the game. According to Coach Matt Samson, size doesn’t matter. “Despite his size, he is one of the most physical guys on the team and he will need to bring that mentality to the rink every night in order to be an effective player.” Coach Matt adds “He’s not afraid to mix it up and go into the tough areas of the ice.” When describing Ian’s strengths, Coach Matt says “Ian brings a lot of energy and speed to our lineup he has played both right wing and center this year and is becoming more responsible defensively.” Matt also goes on to say “Ian also has a solid skill set and hard shot and he is capable of chipping in goals for us.” Ian believes that depth of skill, good systems and great coaching staff is the secret behind the Wolf Pack’s success this season. But there’s another story to be told here. Ian isn’t the first Creamore to bare the Wolf Pack jersey. “This is the 5th year for us coaching a Creamore as his older brother Jamie was with the Wolf Pack for the past four seasons and served as our team captain last year.” Following in his brother’s footsteps has been a goal and an honor for Ian. In fact, Ian says that Jamie has been his greatest hockey inspiration. “Ever since he joined the Wolf Pack, my goal was to make the team. With Jamie being the captain of the ‘Pack last year, it really opened up my eyes for what it takes to be a leader, and how to get the team pumped up for games.” Jamie may have retired from the PJHL last season but he’s never far from the game. He comes out to cheer on the ‘Pack at every home and away games, and he’ll even lace up the skates now and then to help out Coach Matt at practices. Ian’s future plan is to make a Junior A team next season. While hockey is a top priority right now he enjoys hanging out with friends and family and playing other sports.
