Nowadays there are more than 7 billion people living in the World, and the only thing that can
distinguish you from others is Creativity. I was born to be different than others, and in my
opinion, everything that happened and happens in my life, forms my personality and makes me
stronger and better. In this CV I will tell you the story about my life and show basic and usual
things that have changed me.
I was born in a family where education was most important for your
success. My mother is a schoolteacher and father is a business
leader. They gave me the base for all my personal qualities and instilled
strong ethical standards and principles.
My father is leading his own business and when I was young, I used
to spend all my free time with him and observed how he leads his
company. I saw all his advantages and disadvantages in leading and
now I know the mistakes I should not repeat!
At the age of seven, I went to school and started playing football. I
was playing football professionally for twelve years, was the captain
of my team and member of the Latvian National Junior Team. This
was my first team leading experience, I learned to make rapid decisions
and work in a field where the situation can change every second.
I grew up and started leading most of the concerts and shows at
school, was elected as Children’s Rights Protection Council President
and was taking part in leading the Student Union. These activities
helped me to increase representative and organisational skills.
I was leading “KVN” Comedy Show Team and this was the greatest
experience to enhance my creativity and Team-oriented leadership. The
most important was to give every team member a chance to express
his idea and understand what they want to say. In the year of 2013
we won the biggest “KVN” championship in Latvia and were awarded
with the title - The funniest team in Latvia. I have also learned to make
a hard-working and motivated team from a group of absolutely different
people.
I try to show and improve my creativity everywhere. Thus, when I was
17 started writing poems and songs. In the beginning, it was just a
hobby, but then I understood that I could write poems about
everyone and everything, so I created my own business. This was my
first business experience. People came to me, told me about their
friend, girlfriend or another person to whom this gift will be
dedicated and I would write a poem about this person. The price of
one poem of four quatrains is 25£, each next quatrain costs 5£. That
business was just a hobby and now I am writing only very special
orders or just for my pleasure.
Finally, in the summer of 2013 I finished school with the Grades 9 and
10 and was awarded by the Riga Mayor Nil Ushakov with the Diploma
for being socially active and finishing school with the very high grades .
Later, this award helped me to get useful connections in Riga
Government and I used them to make my project on setting new
benches and improving Riga city.
After finishing school, I spent three months working in a restaurant,
but then finished that job and started searching for a job that I like. I
had a lot of ideas about my father’s woodworking business
improvement and marketing events, so he offered me to open my own
business and try to realize all my ideas. This was a great idea! I
opened my own company “Aquila Ltd”, learned many new things about
opening and leading a business, practiced in getting contracts and
organising marketing events, and solved a business conflict. I have
already found a few contracts on exporting timber to France and
setting benches in Riga (Contract with Riga Government). I have also
created two catalogues with all the production we make. Now my
father is leading this business, but I am doing marketing and searching
for new customers.
In September 2013, I saw a big problem happening in my country –
“Legal Drugs”. That was a real disaster! Dealers were selling these
drugs everywhere and with no age restriction. One of these “Legal
Drugs” points was opened just in front of my school. I was shocked
how popular it was – more than 40 customers per hour and some of
them were kids. I called to the police, but they told me that there is
nothing illegal and asked me not to call them anymore. I decided not
to stop! I called all the media and asked them for help. Next day all
the school came out to this point to piquet there! News about this
piquet was in every Latvian media.
Next weeks I had a lot of interviews and meetings with media
representatives.
Finally, the Municipality of Riga created police, which is now fighting
with these “Legal Drugs”. That was Victory! We beat the “Legal Drugs”
in my city!
Now I am a very popular person in Latvia and I am trying to use this
popularity to help people with solving their problems, because once
they helped me with closing “Legal Drugs” in Latvia.
After fighting with “Legal Drugs” I came to study in the UK, in
Bournemouth University. Since my first day here, I started showing
my creativity and all the skills I have. Our first task was to make the
basic collage about our induction week in Bournemouth, but I
decided to do it differently and built very creative collage from two
mops and six books (On the photo). In the UK I started improving my
network and learning different culture traditions and norms. I joined
Business Mania, Marketing and IoD (Institute of Directors) societies.
These societies give me a great opportunity to speak with business
leaders, learn from their examples and mistakes, and to find some useful
connections in the Business network.
Next, I started working on my social life and improving my CV with
Charity and Volunteering. I joined RAG (Raising and Giving) and
Volunteering communities and started working on organising different
attractive and funny events: “Leggit”, “MAD”, “Lost”, etc. (You can
find the full list of events and information about them on
www.subu.org.uk). For me the most interesting was “Leggit”, where
teams have 36 hours to get as far away from Bournemouth as
possible, with no spending money. These communities help me to
improve my organisational, communicational, computer and other skills.
Now I am working on organising “Haircut Charity Day”.
Then, after starting being socially active, I thought that all other
students also want to change many things at Bournemouth
University and want to make students’ life better! Thus, I decided to
run for Activities Executive on Student Union Elections. That was like
a real election and the most difficult for me was that I was the only
one first year student, competing against second and third year
students. My campaign was so successful that I got a prize for the Best
Campaign and I became very popular in Bournemouth. Unfortunately, I
lost by approximately 5 votes to a Second year student, but three
days after the election finished, I came to the Student Union and
presented my project about crating the 5th Council in Student Union –
International Council (Idea was based on detailed research that I did).
Everyone in the Union was impressed by my motivation and they offered
me another role in the Union for this year, now we are preparing to
make the 5th Council.
My health is also very important for me and I decided to continue
playing football, and doing sports here at BU (Bournemouth
University). I started leading Social Sports for sportBU, doing morning
runs and participating in the football tournaments every week. My
networking and team-organisational skills helped me to recruit a team
and now we are reaching the peaks in tournaments every week.
Social Sports also helped me to become more flexible and to combine
studies with sports.
University for me is not only about being a student, it is about being
independent and helping parents financially. Therefore, a very
important step for me was to find a job and I did it! I applied for a job
in the university. The competition was high – more than 900 students
and only 200 roles. I passed lots of interviews and trainings, and,
finally, became a Student Ambassador. Now I am representing my
University on all the shows and fairs, I am leading University tours on the
Open Days and visiting different colleges to tell students about our
University. All these activities increase my listening and communicating
skills and help me to understand people better.
What is next?
I am currently working on two projects. First is a very creative way of
representing yourself – new CV. This CV will be more interesting than
all the other CV’s that we have now, and it will help people to tell us
stories about themselves, not just “copy paste” their biography.
Moreover, this might be very useful for Google as a social network.
The second idea can not only change our lives, it can change the way
we think and change our values, and to start changing our future you
only need to invite me on the interview.
