Arts & Communication Magnet Academy
Dance West is the pre-professional dance company at Arts & Communication Magnet Academy. Designed
for the career-oriented, serious dancer, Dance West is an intensive study in a variety of dance styles with a
strong emphasis on performance. Auditions will be held on June 8th. Applicants MUST attend this audition.
All applicants will receive a letter containing the audition results as well as company information.

NOTE: All Dance West applicants must apply and be accepted to attend ACMA as a full-time student. All
students must live within the Beaverton School District boundaries in order to attend ACMA. There is a
required fee for this class, payable in September. High school credit will be given for Dance West.
As a special note: A strong Dance parents' group actively helps raise funds to sponsor tours and support
company activities and volunteers at all Dance West performances.

By signing below, I agree to the following:
With the exception of your academics, being a member of Dance West must be your number one priority for
one year. It is important that you establish an understanding with your teachers that you will be missing classes
for tours and performances. This is especially true the last half of the year when the company has concert tours
and lecture-demonstrations. YOU are always responsible for making up any missed assignments when absent.
All of these items must be taken into consideration before you decide to apply to become a member of Dance
West.
1. As a Full-time, Probationary, or Apprentice 1 or 2 member of the company, I understand no roles are
promised to any student. Roles are assigned at the discretion of the Artistic Director and/or guest artist.
2. I have a clear understanding that I will not be in every piece and that I may not have a leading role.
3. I understand that most roles will be in the ensemble, and that to be an apprentice is an integral part of DW.
4. I understand that, with the exception of my academics, I am making Dance West my number one priority for
one year.
5. I understand that I will take a two-period of technique class, as well as a 2 1/2-hour Dance West Company
class each day and that additional rehearsals may be required during performances.
6. I/we commit to fundraising efforts on behalf of the dancers, and to volunteering at all Dance West
performances.
