What We Learnt
• We learnt that The London 2012 Olympic Games will feature 26
sports, breaking down into disciplines and events.
• There was a 1908 Olympics (the Games of the IV Olympiad) this
was held in London and The Games venue was held at the
White City stadium
• There was also a 1948 Olympics held in London, Wembley.
• There will be around 17000 apartments for athletes and
officials

Facts
• The 2012 Summer Olympic Games will be held in London from 27
July to 12 August 2012, followed by the 2012 Paralympic Games
from 29 August to 9 September.
• London hosted the Olympic games in 1908 and 1948.
• We expect 205 nations to take part in 300 events at the Olympic
Games in 2012. 147 nations will take part in the Paralympic Games.
• 26 Olympic sports will be played
• 19 Paralympic sports will be played
• There will be 500,000 spectators per day
• 9,000 new homes will be built
• 200,000 chairs will be needed
