Telepresence Interop Challenges- Features
• Lack of an open Interoperability standard across multiple
vendors.
•
All equipment use SIP, H323 and H.264 however there are proprietary
elements that prevent smooth Interop.
• No Interop solution without using additional equipment to
trans-code that adds delay and quality issues
• All feature parity not available even with trans-coding
equipment:
•
Encryption
• Presentation/data sharing capabilities
• Multi-Screen Support
•

Telepresence Interop Challenges-Network
• Network fault tolerance very low
• Strict policing at L2 devices
• Higher Jitter and Delay to span geographic distances
• High Out of sequence packets and low buffers in the
MCUs.
•
Lack of a central registration point for service providers.
• NAT non-compliance (H323) prevents extended reach.
• IPV6 support
