LOVING CARE WEE SCHOOL PARENT POLICY
WELCOME to the LOVING CARE WEE SCHOOL FAMILY! We were started in
1992 by the Grand Prairie Congregational Methodist Church as part of our ministry to the
community families.
The Loving Care Wee School meets in the facilities of the Grand Prairie
Congregational Methodist Church. Rev. Mrs. Edna Fowler is the Senior Pastor. It is a
fundamental Bible Church, with teaching and preaching designed to help apply God’s
Truth to daily living. It offers a full range of ministries to families.
You are invited to attend this Sunday! The Worship Service begins at 10:45 am. Bible
classes for adult and children meet at 9:30 AM. Wednesday we meet together at 7:00 PM,
and we enjoy an hour of sharing and praying. We enjoy a Bible study on Sunday evening
at 6:00 pm.
**********************STATEMENT OF PURPOSE*************************
The Loving Care Wee School is dedicated to providing the highest quality of
childcare, in a Christian environment, and in a comfortable and beautiful building. We are
a LEARNING CENTER, not a babysitting service!! To that end, we have made
commitments to hiring and retaining only the best staff who love the children and who
will give them their best every day.
We welcome comments and constructive criticism from parents that will help us
maintain our high standards. Parents are invited to join other parents in the Parent
Teacher Fellowship meetings and projects to benefit their children and enhance their
child-care experiences.
*******************THE DIRECTOR AND STAFF***************************
ELIZABETH GONZALEZ is the director. She has been with Loving Care Wee
School since January 1997. She began as a toddler room teacher for 4 years. In 1999 she
became the assistant director, and 2001 she became the director. She has a Certificate in
Child-Care Administration from The National Institute of Child Care Management.
The excellent staff shares her commitment to high standards and loving service. All
staff members meet not only the minimum standards established by the Texas Department
of Human Resources, but the higher standards set by the Grand Prairie Congregational
Methodist Church. All staff is closely supervised and must continue their education with
a minimum of 15 classroom hours of training each year. Administration must have 20 or
more hours.
*******************************CURRICULUM***************************
THE LOVING CARE WEE SCHOOL is a LEARING CENTER!! Developmental needs
of each child are met in the following areas; physical and motor, language, intellectual,
social, emotional and spiritual. This is accomplished by a set curriculum designed for
each age level. The Abeka Curriculum is used with ages three through kindergarten.
This curriculum is unashamedly Christian and traditional in its approach to education.
The materials used are based upon the Bible, and are prepared by talented Christian
scholars highly qualified by both training and experience in classroom teaching.
The three-year-old children are taught the names, sounds and pictures of the alphabet.
They learn to count to 50, and recognize numbers 1-25. They begin printing the alphabet.
Included in the curriculum are lessons on science, poetry, music and truths from the
Bible.
The four and five year olds are taught the basic in reading, writing and numbers
(adding two digit columns and subtracting one-digit columns). Science, music, poetry,
and truths from the Bible are taught well.
The two year olds and the 18 month olds learn shapes, basic color and recognition, the
alphabet, counting to twenty-five, music and Bible stories. All the children enjoy Art and
crafts. The A beka Curriculum is used in our private Kindergarten also.
The staff and administration of the Loving Care Wee School are committed to giving
the best possible training to your children. It is our desire to teach the children the Love
of God, His Word, and Christian values and principles along with the traditional subject
matters appropriate for their ages.
**************WE HAVE A STRONG CHRISTIAN EMPHASIS!****************
The basic objective and primary goal of our school is to provide the finest child-care
possible in a thoroughly Christian context and atmosphere. Our aim is to provide the
kind of loving quality care that every parent should want for his/her child.
This emphasis is evident throughout our School. Many of our staff are committed
Christians, active in their own churches. They share their personal faith in a variety of
ways. However, no child is pressured regarding its faith. No denominational emphasis is
given in any class. We follow the written policy:
THE LOVING CARE WEE SCHOOL IS A MINISTRY THAT WAS BEGUN BY
THE GRAND PRAIRIE CONGREGATIONAL METHODIST CHURCH, AND WE
CONTINUE THE EMPHASIS ON SPRITUAL VALUES AND PURPOSES FOR
WHICH THE SCHOOL WAS BEGUN. IT IS THEREFORE EXPECTED THAT EACH
STAFF PERSON AND TEACHERS IN PARTICULAR WILL SEEK TO REINFORCE
THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH BY LEADING THE
CHILDREN IN DAILY BIBLE READING OR STORIES, PRAYER AT MEALTIMES
AND OTHER APPROPRIATE TIMES, AND TO REINFORCE FAITH IN GOD AS
THE CREATOR, IN THE BIBLE AS GOD’S REVELATION TO MAN, AND IN JESUS
CHRIST AS GOD’S SON AND OUR SAVIOR. RELIGIOUS TRAINING WILL NOT
INCLUDE MATTERS THAT ARE DISTINCTIVELY DENOMINATIONAL. WE
WILL SEEK TO REINFORCE THE BASIC BELIEFS, WHICH ALL CHRISTIANS
HOLD AS THE HISTORIIC CHRISTIAN FAITH. RESPECT FOR PEOPLE OF ALL
DENOMINATIONS, ALL RACES, AND ALL NATIONAL ORIGINS WILL BE
DEMONSTRATED AND TAUGHT.
Daily classes will begin with Scripture reading and prayer. Prayer is given before each
meal. Chapel services are conducted each Friday.
In the final analysis, the lasting value of our child care may not be immediately
evident, it will be evident, however, in the changed attitudes, in the Bible verses
memorized that will come back into memory in later years, in the direction in which these
young lives will have been pointed by their experiences here. The LOVING CARE WEE
SCHOOL is truly shaping the future of an unknown number of lives by influencing the
lives of your children today.
We are helping you build the leaders of tomorrow! Thank you for choosing The
LOVING CARE WEE SCHOOL for your child. We are all here to be a service to God,
by being of service to you.
****************************DISCIPLINE POLICY*************************
Discipline is to teach correct behaviors, and to focus on the future. Through positive
discipline a child will feel security, self-control, wisdom, and positive self-esteem.
In addition to physical and safety needs, children have very important needs that must
be met in order for them to feel loved and secure. When these needs are met
appropriately, children behave better, and there are fewer discipline problems. Love is a
vital force of living. When a child is shown that they are loved it makes them feel special
and good about themselves. We love the children at LCWS, by hugging them, praising
them through eye contact, smiling at them and showing the child we accept them as they
are. Children need order this is why we have a structured program for each age. Rules
and consequences are posted and gone over daily with the children. They are taught right
from wrong. If a child consistently misbehaves and disobeys the teacher he is placed in
time out, separated from the group for 1 minute per the age of the child. If the child does
not show any signs of obedience, he is sent to the office where is talked with by the
Director. The Director will talk with the parent about the Childs’ behavior.
A behavior form will be sent home to the parent with the information of the problems the
child has had. We ask the parents to help us and reinforce the rules of LCWS. After the
third behavioral form is sent home for the same incident the child will be dismissed.
Discipline is a necessary part of growing up. We want to teach correct behaviors.
Children can learn through us being consistent, firm, patient, and showing love.
Discipline is concerned with the future. Its focus is not on the misbehavior of the
present, but of insuring that the child understands that this behavior cannot recur in the
future. It must be over. The following are used, as positive discipline techniques by
LCWS staff: 1) eye contact, 2) redirect the child, 3) laughter, 4) consequences, 5)
praising positive behavior, and 6) overlooking negative behaviors when they do not harm
another child. We must work together to help your child learn that we must all follow
rules or pay the consequence.
Parents will be contacted by phone if the child is total defiant or out of control when
being corrected, hits or kicks the teacher or director, spits at or spits on them. If the child
does not show remorse or a changed spirit the parent will be asked to come and get them.
Parents will be notified by phone, e-mail, or text for any concerns or notification about
your child or future things happening in the school. The front door will hold any notices
of illnesses, openings and closing of the school.
