Position Description: The Children’s Ministry Lead (CML) is to build a children’s ministry through staff and ministry partners that helps children of all ages (Birth – 5th Grade) discover the truths of the bible in exciting, creative, and age appropriate ways. The CML is to provide a safe and secure environment for children to learn; and is to cast vision, recruit, equip and deploy teams. Ministry Description: Children’s Ministry Lead Classification: Full-Time, Exempt Accountable To: Executive Pastor Duties and Responsibilities 1. Christ-Focused Ministry A. Events|Programs|Activities: All events, programs and activities…whether an outreach event, worship experience or teaching environment, teaching environment, should in some way be leading children into, or further along into, a relationship with Jesus Christ. i. A – Attracting students to the Life of Christ ii. I – Introducing students to Christ iii. M – Maturing students in Christ 2. Ministry Development A. Vision: Craft, cast and execute overall vision for the direction of the Children’s Ministry. B. Recruit: Identify, recruit, and equip ministry partners within the Children’s Ministry through an on-going orientation process. C. Training: Provide training opportunities for staff and ministry partners to help deliver exceptional children’s ministry. D. Design: Design programs, events, and activities that children and families can benefit from spiritually and relationally. E. Community: Implement community within your volunteer teams, your staff and with your ministry through small groups. F. Service Projects: Plan for and provide regular opportunities for our children|families to “act out” their faith in service toward others. G. Current Trends: Keep abreast of the world of children through publications, music, websites, etc. H. Internship: Oversee, train and mentor the children’s ministry intern(s). 3. Administrative Development A. Children’s Ministry Registration: Oversee the check-in process and lead the team implementing this ministry. B. Discipleship Class: Provide and lead a regular discipleship class for children who have recently received Christ or desire to be baptized. C. Budget: Prepare, propose and mange an approved budget throughout each fiscal year alongside the Children’s Ministry Associates. D. Communication: Work cooperatively with the Administrative Assistant to effectively and regularly communicate with all families. Keep an up-to-date database within ACS of all children and parents|guardians. Provide regular information for the Weekend Worship Guide for communicating Children’s Ministry events, activities, and classes. E. Handbook: Keep the PHC Children’s Ministry Handbook and Guidelines up-to-date for our Ministry Partners and PHC families. REVISED: 7/28/17 F. Master Calendaring: Coordinate with the Staff Lead Team for activities, events, and classes (i.e. child dedication, baptism and special service). G. Children’s Leadership Team: Meet on a monthly basis with the core leaders for communication, encouragement, shepherding, and vision casting. H. Staff Lead Team: Participate on the Staff Lead Team to assist with global, visionary and organizational matters. I. Other: Assist as needed in other areas of ministry alongside staff and ministry partners. 4. Family Ministry A. Direction: Give direct oversight and focus for the Family Ministry which may include family events and activities on a regular basis. Interaction with Others The Children’s Ministry Lead will regularly interact with the Ministry Leads for organizational matters and alignment of ministry movement and with the Executive Pastor for direction, vision and accountability. Understanding and experience in developing and refining ministry systems. A heart and love for children and their parents. Strong time management and multi-tasking skills. Proven ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality. Strong work ethic, self-starter, demonstrating initiative and ownership of results. Committed to teamwork with the leadership, staff and congregation.
