Match Results and Reports!
Gaffer’s boys stride on, with another great victory! Team-of-the-week again, getting to be
a good habit for the 1’s! The Mighty 8’s go equal top with a hard-earned point and well done
to the true Vamps who swelled the ranks of the 6’s on their long away-day in the Cup!
Ist XI v Kew Association….Won 3-0; Scorers; Sol, Gyves,Noble
Thanks to navigating skills of Tom Pidgeon, we arrived at a rainy Kew in high spirits after recent
performances. We got straight into our stride and played some great football with pace and one
touch it was a joy to watch. Kew were a big physical side but they could not handle our pace and
movement. We went ahead after 25 minutes after a great run by Sol man beating three players and
rifling a powerful shot. Second half started and it looked like the boys still wanted to be in the
changing room with Kew having a lot of possession, as if we thought the game was already won.
Than they had a player sent off. However, they seemed to rise to it more than us and dominated the
game, but the good thing about this team is if we ain't playing well they battle and shut teams down
and don't give up. Then a breakway see Sol man cross the ball for Gyves to score, than the best till
last saw Gyves put a great ball into Gregory, who had two men on him a great touch knocked the ball
ahead off him I have never seen pace like what Gregor's showed, the markers were left 20 yards
behind him and unselfishly crossed for Noble to score a 3-yard screamer and what a great
celebration! (don't worry, I saw it mate!). Well done to everyone, great spirit! Special mention to
Twilley in goal who made 4 superb saves, I know he has been for long runs and pushing himself to
get fitter, well done Twill's. (Current Clean-Sheet champ—Ed) P.S. Sorry about the report last week
and I have sacked Harry. Sorry Geoff could you ask if anyone found a white gold chain as
one of the boys lost it just to see if someone found it. Thank You
2nd XI v Old Wilsonians…Lost 0-6;
~~NO REPORT RECEIVED~~
3rd XI v Norseman…Drew 3-3; Scorers;??
~~NO REPORT RECEIVED, SEVERE HANGOVER REPORTED!!~~
4th XI v Ebog’s 4th XI…Lost 0-1;
Not much to say about this game. We dominated throughout, but didn't put our chances away and
as usual, we got punished in the final minutes of the game by a combination of rain, wind, a weak
freekick and G. Donaghey's knees.
5th XI v Old Owens 5th XI… Lost 2-5; Scorers;??
~~NO REPORT RECEIVED~~
6th XI v Old Wokingians 5th XI..Lost 0-1;
~~NO REPORT RECEIVED~~
7th XI ~~No Game~~
8th XI v Alexandra Park 7th XI…Drew 2-2; Scorers; Minoli, Haritakis
Lashing rain, stiff wind, freezing cold!! Cometh the hour, cometh the Men, in the shapes of Billy “The
Cat” Parsons, and the MacDonald bros!..always a pleasure to have them back, this time facing a
tough and combative AP 7’s, but zestful youth from the Vamps (The Cat lasted 30 mins before the
need for nicotine took over) gave us a deserved 1-0 half-time lead, thanks again to Minoli. Despite
continued good approach play after the break, arguably we failed to test their keeper enough and as
we sat back AP nipped in with a good equaliser. Heads did not drop, and roared on from the
touchline by yours truly, Winchester (before he went hoarse!!) and Haritakis Senior, Vamps took the
lead from Haritakis Junior to the delight of Dad, after superb work from Harrington. The allimportant 3rd goal didn’t materialise and AP fought back, grabbing an opportune goal with aplomb.
Pleasingly the Young ones + a rousing Richie Mac kept us battling to the end..a bit disappointing
perhaps not to have all 3 points, but an exciting match to watch! MOM…(joint) The
MacDonalds..class is forever boys!!
