U of D Jesuit Names Next Varsity Lacrosse Coach A.M.D.G. February 17, 2017 The University of Detroit Jesuit High School Athletic Department is proud to announce that Ron Martinello has been selected as The High’s next Head Varsity Lacrosse coach. Coach Martinello has displayed both the poise and experience needed to take the helm of the U of D Jesuit lacrosse program. He comes to U of D Jesuit already as a lacrosse Hall of Fame legend in his native home of Windsor, Canada. A graduate of Windsor Assumption College Catholic High School, Ron went on to play at the University of Maryland where he still has the 6th most goals in a season, is the Terrapins 13th alltime career goal scorer, played on back-to-back ACC Championship teams and was a two time All-American. In 1981, he helped lead Team Canada to a bronze medal in the Lacrosse World Championships. Ron went on play for the Detroit Turbos professional lacrosse team where he holds the all-time team record for assists, was a two time Major Indoor Lacrosse League All-Pro, team MVP and part of an undefeated Championship season. Coach Martinello has over 30 years of both box and field lacrosse coaching experience, including eight years as the Windsor Clippers head coach where he won eight consecutive divisional titles. Coach Martinello takes the reigns of one of the premier high school lacrosse programs in Michigan at U of D Jesuit. The Cub lacrosse program has appeared in three MHSAA State Championship games, numerous MHSAA final fours and CHSL Finals. Please join us on Thursday March 9, 2017 at 7:00PM at U of D Jesuit, when we will formally introduce, Mr. Ron Martinello, as our new Head Varsity Lacrosse coach in a brief meet and greet reception. We hope that all of our returning and new U of D Jesuit lacrosse families, alumni and players will be able to attend. Thanks and GO CUBS!
