Junior-Professorship for Mathematical Statistics

The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the
Georg-August University Goettingen, Germany
invites applicants for a
Junior-Professorship for Mathematical Statistics
(salary W1)
to begin on October 1st, 2011 at the
Institute for Mathematical Stochastics.
The position is initially for a period of three years. Conditional on a positive evaluation within the three
years, the position will be renewed for another three years.
Successful candidates should demonstrate excellent expertise in research and high ranking publications.
The candidate will be expected to contribute to the Institute’s activities in research, teaching and
administration. The junior professor represents a current topic in Mathematical Statistics related to funded
research groups like RTG 1023 “Identification in Mathematical Models” or FOR 916 “Statistical
Regularization”.

Pre-conditions for appointment are laid down in § 30 of the Higher Education Law of Lower Saxony of
26.02.2007 (Official Law Gazette of Lower Saxony, Nds. GVBl. 5/ 2007 p. 69). As a Public Law
Foundation, the University of Goettingen holds the right of appointment. The time as a scientific assistant
or similar occupation prior and after PhD-studies together with time during PhD studies should not exceed
6 years in total.
