Athletic Code
It is very important that you read and have a thorough understanding of the Arroyo Grande
High School – Department of Athletics Athletic Code. All athletes have signed the athletic
code. In addition to this code, in the aquatics program we have couple of additional
amendments.
Academic Achievement We believe your grades should be above the 2.0 that is required by the
high school and CIF. The aquatics program requires all of our athletes to maintain a 3.0 or better.
When athletes drop below a 3.0, coaches have the authority to suspend them from practice and
institute a study hall. We believe that it is very important athletes be students first and athletes
second.
Team Conduct No athlete should treat another athlete with disrespect. Hazing, verbal, physical,
and mental will not be tolerated. This can result in the immediate dismissal from the program. In
addition, any athlete stealing or misplacing an item from another athlete or team will suffer
discipline consequences. In order to win in any sport, athletes must have the trust, support and
respect of their teammates.
Travel Conduct All School rules apply on each trip. Trip rules and curfews will be established before
each trip. If these rules are broken, you jeopardize your right to travel in the future and you may even be
suspended or removed from the team. Since we are traveling to other schools, you should represent
Arroyo Grande High School well. You will notice that other schools don’t represent themselves
with the same guidelines that we follow. Be proud that you compete in Eagle Athletics!
Fundraising We are asking for each athlete to donate $150.00 to pay for gear and other misc.
expenses for the team. This will include your team suit and team shirt. If you have any concerns
with paying the money please don’t hesitate to email me.
AGHS Boosters: The boosters and Athletic Department have been hit hard again for funds. We
are asking all parents to be active booster members. With a membership we are able to provide
entry into the all home games. The boosters will also ask each team member to sell two booster
calendars.
Parent Involvement – Parents we are going to need your help this year. We would like to make
the change to a parent run concession stand. This would help in getting a profit off the front gate
and the food will not get eaten by the kids. If possible we would like you to sign up for a the help
work the stand.
Transportation With the current situation of transportation in the district sometimes we will
need help with parents driving. Usually we will have school bus transportation for the league
games. For tournaments we will need parents to help drive possibly. To be a parent driver we
will need you fill out the attached parent driver form.

Timeliness
All athletes should plan to be on time to every event, either practice or games. Busses, practices,
and team events don’t wait for the latest player to start. All athletes should make an attempt to
plan their schedule in advance. Not knowing when an event is taking place is unacceptable. Use
the web site or the enclosed schedule. If you have to make a meeting with a teacher regarding
academic problems, please inform the coach yourself, do not have a teammate relay this
information.
