A NEW YEAR, A NEW CHAPTER
Welcome back to the new academic year – we hope you all had a lovely summer holiday and managed to
enjoy quality time with your children.
Firstly, I have to begin by saying a huge ‘thank you’ to all of you. It was truly a wonderful sight to see the
children looking so smart in our new uniform. Everyone has commented positively on the new colours and
the children are wearing them with pride. Thank you also to the vast majority of parents who have purchase
school shoes. I do need to remind the remaining parents that school shoes are compulsory and trainers are
ONLY to be worn for Sport/PE.
As you will have noticed by now, the Junior playground has had an immense makeover during the summer
break. We are now overjoyed to have a very large astro area, outdoor learning area with a cabin, a large
rubber crumbed surface and numerous new picnic benches and outdoor resources. A low level climbing wall
will also be completed this term. Already, the children are utilising the areas well and thoroughly enjoy their
colourful area. It goes without saying that I am aware that the pick-up after school has been somewhat
difficult, and we knew there would be some trial and error, but after some additional thinking, we believe
we have a simple solution. Please see the plan overleaf which will explain the logistics as of Monday.
The infant and Junior academies have both had the internal areas completed re-painted and KS1 now have
a lovely new carpet and the whole academy get to bask in a bright new library with a very large selection of
new books.
Finally, I am thrilled to share that we have our very own dedicated Sports department this year, with four
outstanding coaches working full time to support our whole school vision of:
‘Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds – Promising Futures.’
Within your bumper newsletter pack this week, you will find a collection of enrichment letters ranging from
before school fitness sessions, after school clubs, to small group PT sessions. We have some amazing plans
this year which incorporate fitness, health and well-being to our wider curriculum. Please look out for the
information in our bi-weekly newsletters. If you would like to follow our sport/fitness progress, please do so
on twitter: @Blakenhalesport
All that is left for me to say is; I’m very much looking forward to seeing you all over the course of the next
few weeks and if you do have any questions or queries, please do get in touch.
