SI OUTCOMES PILOT CONSULTATION Session agenda • • • • The story so far The Pilot exercise The plan Key questions The story so far • • • • • • SI Outcomes Project Sept. 2008 Survey of data currently collected Generation of initial outcomes set (110) Consultations to prioritise outcomes Further development through regions Pilot exercise (14) May-June 2010 The Pilot exercise • Trial of a core set in preparation for national benchmarking • 13 Enjoy & Achieve, 1 Achieve Economic Well-Being • Population: CYP with severe/profound HI/VI as their sole SEN (0yrs - Year 11) • Spreadsheet tool to facilitate data gathering and calculations Headlines - 1 • • • • • • • Responses from 10 Services Majority supported use of all 14 PIs Majority supported widening of pop. High rating for data required guidance High rating for calculations guidance Mixed response on user friendliness Limitations in current data access Headlines - 2 • Positive response re future participation • CYP with sev/prof HI as sole SEN: 72% (range 47% - 88%) • CYP with sev/prof VI as sole SEN: 30% (range 5% - 48%) • Populations typically very small The plan • Intention to run initial national benchmarking exercise during 2010-11 (using 2009-10 academic year data) • Next meeting of task group: 16th Sept. (London) • Eventual broadening of outcomes set in accord with ECM Key questions - 1 • What population should we focus upon for the pilot and how should we define it to ensure consistent interpretation? • Given the typically small populations involved in each LA would it be more appropriate to gather raw data only during the national benchmarking from which the averages or percentages can be calculated? Key questions - 2 • Do we need to change the outcomes set? • Should point score average increases be collected rather than level increases (ref. A10 & A11)? • Are there suggestions/group volunteers to look at some of the wider outcomes (e.g. VI specialist assessments and independence checklists)?
