Founded by Paul McNamee, KIDS TENNIS FOUNDATION provides tennis coaching for financially and socially
9
disadvantaged children.

1
KIDS TENNIS FOUNDATION is first and foremost a social welfare program using tennis
0 as the means for communication
to help raise the self-esteem and self-confidence of those involved, whilst also improving other social and communicative
skills. With much positive encouragement and praise, the children learn to play tennis in a9 relaxed, happy environment.

KIDS TENNIS FOUNDATION does not aim to produce "champions", but gives a great many
disadvantaged youngsters the
6
opportunity to be one.

Each week the coach goes to the same school with a supply of racquets and balls and w

lessons for at least a school

term (usually 10 weeks) before rotating and giving others in the school the same opportunity. Schools remain in the Program
for (usually) two years, with children from Years 3-6 receiving the Program in this time. kIt is then the turn of other schools,
but, after (usually) two years, that original school will then be revisited as Year 3 studentsi would then be Year 6 and, so, the
d
rotation begins again!

Kids Tennis Foundation coaches have portable nets which are used on the school grounds.
e With these nets and lines, often
with chalk, on the playing area, instant tennis courts are produced in just a few minutes. n

This quite incredible achievement has been due to the support of wonderful sponsors,
namely BUNNINGS (2012d
Current), RYOBI (2015- Current), VICTA (2012-2014), OAMPS INSURANCE
BROKERS (2005-2007incl),
a
AMERICAN EXPRESS (through Amex Aces Program at Australian Open t2005-2007incl), GARNIER (20062010incl), with HYUNDAI donating money from HYUNDAI ACES at HOPMAN
CUP (2010-2014) and

AUSTRALIAN OPEN CHARITABLE FUND currently providing much neededofunds and TENNIS AUSTRALIA

supplying equipment as well. From 1985-1996 SHELL AUSTRALIA was the Principal
Sponsor, certainly a truly
.
magnificent contribution. 1997-1998 saw TATTERSALL'S as Principal cSponsor and SUNSENSE (Ego
Pharmaceuticals) took over this role from 1999-2004, for which Kids Tennis Foundation
is truly indebted. TENNIS
o
m
AUSTRALIA, HEALTHWAY in WA, VARIETY WA and VICHEALTH provided grants for many years with great
support from DUNLOP SPORT and NESTLE PETERS ICE-CREAM also.

The success of Kids Tennis Foundation is also due to the hard work of the Board,o Chief Executive Officer, National
r
Co-ordinator, State/Territory Administrators, the KTF Social Committee, the Coaches,
many fantastic Companies,
t
Organisations, Tennis Clubs and other wonderful supporters, all of whom are involved in one way or another in the
o
Program or in KTF fund-raising functions, events and activities.

k
And, in 2016, with the support of not only Bunnings and Ryobi, but also CQS (major
sponsor of the International
i
Tennis Club) and International Club Philanthropy Foundation and Yulgilbar Foundation (Myer), KTF is now
d
providing coaching for many more children in regional areas through the Ken Rosewall
Regional Project.
