With much positive encouragement and praise, the children learn to play tennis in a9 relaxed, happy environment. 1 6 KIDS TENNIS FOUNDATION does not aim to produce "champions", but gives a great many disadvantaged youngsters the 6 opportunity to be one. w Each week the coach goes to the same school with a supply of racquets and balls and w portable nets, all provided by Kids w Tennis Foundation. The children at these “disadvantaged” Primary Schools attend the hourly lessons for at least a school . term (usually 10 weeks) before rotating and giving others in the school the same opportunity. Schools remain in the Program for (usually) two years, with children from Years 3-6 receiving the Program in this time. kIt is then the turn of other schools, but, after (usually) two years, that original school will then be revisited as Year 3 studentsi would then be Year 6 and, so, the d rotation begins again! s t Kids Tennis Foundation coaches have portable nets which are used on the school grounds. e With these nets and lines, often with chalk, on the playing area, instant tennis courts are produced in just a few minutes. n n i each school term are given the In real terms, through the 100 programs or more, close to 2,500 disadvantaged children s opportunity of learning this great game, not to mention the boost to their self esteem and self confidence. It is estimated that f since its inception in 1983, Kids Tennis Foundation has coached close to 400,000 childrenoAustralia wide. u n This quite incredible achievement has been due to the support of wonderful sponsors, namely BUNNINGS (2012d Current), RYOBI (2015- Current), VICTA (2012-2014), OAMPS INSURANCE BROKERS (2005-2007incl), a AMERICAN EXPRESS (through Amex Aces Program at Australian Open t2005-2007incl), GARNIER (20062010incl), with HYUNDAI donating money from HYUNDAI ACES at HOPMAN CUP (2010-2014) and i AUSTRALIAN OPEN CHARITABLE FUND currently providing much neededofunds and TENNIS AUSTRALIA n supplying equipment as well. From 1985-1996 SHELL AUSTRALIA was the Principal Sponsor, certainly a truly . magnificent contribution. 1997-1998 saw TATTERSALL'S as Principal cSponsor and SUNSENSE (Ego Pharmaceuticals) took over this role from 1999-2004, for which Kids Tennis Foundation is truly indebted. TENNIS o m AUSTRALIA, HEALTHWAY in WA, VARIETY WA and VICHEALTH provided grants for many years with great support from DUNLOP SPORT and NESTLE PETERS ICE-CREAM also. s n The success of Kids Tennis Foundation is also due to the hard work of the Board,o Chief Executive Officer, National r Co-ordinator, State/Territory Administrators, the KTF Social Committee, the Coaches, many fantastic Companies, t Organisations, Tennis Clubs and other wonderful supporters, all of whom are involved in one way or another in the o Program or in KTF fund-raising functions, events and activities. n @ k And, in 2016, with the support of not only Bunnings and Ryobi, but also CQS (major sponsor of the International i Tennis Club) and International Club Philanthropy Foundation and Yulgilbar Foundation (Myer), KTF is now d providing coaching for many more children in regional areas through the Ken Rosewall Regional Project. s t e n n
