Waitakere College Foundation Exhibition & Sale of Contemporary Art
Friday 16 June & Saturday 17 June 2017
Thank you for registering for this annual fundraising event.
You are making a great contribution toward promoting Art in West Auckland and supporting our community in providing
opportunities for our kids to succeed in education by reducing barriers.
We want to get YOU the highest price possible for your work,
and great public exposure
Artists Please Note:

Last year (2016) the exhibition ran for one day only (Saturday),
with the silent auction open to public bidders from 10am – 2pm.

This year (2017) the exhibition will run for two days. We are expanding the format to include a ticketed Opening Night
function on Friday 16 June, for invited guests and Alumni. Those who pay for a ticket to attend the opening night function
will have a first opportunity to buy works at a set price - during that function only - to give them certainty of ownership
without having to bid. The work will then be marked as SOLD, but remain on display in the exhibition on Saturday.

For example: you the artist may set a $150 reserve on your artwork.
This means if sold for $150 at 30% commission, the Foundation would keep $ 45 and you would receive $105.

If the work sells for more, both you and the Foundation will receive more
e.g. if sold for $ 250 the Foundation keeps $ 75 (30% of $ 250) and the Foundation will pay you $ 175 from the
sale price they have collected.

For the Opening night function on Friday, the Foundation will set a ‘buy now’ price that will be above the price
that you have set as your reserve, e.g. may be $ 300 on Friday night in this example.
So if sold, at 30% commission the Foundation would keep $ 90 and you would receive $ 210 from the $ 300
However, if your work did not sell on Friday, then on Saturday at the public auction the starting price for bids
will be back to ‘the reserve’ which you the artist has already set – in this example, $150.
So by the conclusion of bidding on the Saturday the work may sell for any price at or above the $150 reserve.
