High Green Gymnastics Academy
Newsletter February 2016
The start of 2016 has shown huge potential for High Green Gymnastics Academy, we currently have over 500 participants
attending classes weekly ranging from 5 to 67 years old! The class restructure enabled us as a club to be as efficient with
space and time as we possibly could, but all of our classes are almost full.
Some celebrations for the club include the December 2015 competition we hosted two piece and four piece competitions
where we had over 300 gymnasts competing from High Green Gymnastics Academy, Temple Newsam Halton Gymnastics
Club, Panache Gymnastics Club and Penistone Gymnastics Club. The competition ran to time and was an enjoyable day for
everyone!
Our Men’s Artistic Squad has taken shape over the last two month and Antony is growing as a coach, he will be
resubmitting for his Level 2 Men’s Artistic exam, the boys squad is growing and we would be happy to answer any
questions parents may have.
Our Women’s Artistic Squad was restructured in September and over the last six month we have seen huge developments
with the gymnasts and boasting 57 gymnasts working in groups with set coaches. We are set to enter Grades and Levels in
2016 as well as host our own invitational competition in July.
We are always looking to improve as a club and we currently have various ideas to maximise our use of the sports hall. The
management of the club over the next few months we will be liaising with High Green Development Trust who run the
campus in regards to this.
Club Closures
Unfortunately due to prior commitments the club will be closed on the following dates:
Tuesday 15th March 2016
Monday 21st March 2016 through to Monday 28th March 2016 – Classes will recommence on Tuesday 29th March 2016
Payment
As you are all aware we charge on a 4 weekly basis, although for some with two or three children attending we charge on a
fortnightly basis. The reason for this is threefold;
Firstly we have weekly and monthly outgoings that we need to ensure we have revenue in the club to pay for.
Secondly, it shows commitment from gymnasts that they will attend on a weekly basis and not as and when they feel like
it.
Thirdly, as we want to purchase more equipment it means we can buy this sooner as we have revenue on a 4 weekly basis
to spend.
As of April 1st 2016 we will be introducing a late payment, if your payment is 1 week overdue there will be a
late payment charge of £5.00
Payment Terms
Throughout an academic year we will refund up to TWO weeks holidays that you may take outside the periods that the
club is closed at Christmas, New Year and August. If your child starts at the club in January we will only refund up to ONE
week’s holiday between January to July.
In line with all other clubs we will not refund fees for missed sessions unless a doctor’s note is produced and should a child
miss three sessions with no contact made to us then the child will lose their place.
Thorncliffe Leisure Centre
As you may be aware, the Leisure Centre which is being built on Thorncliffe is taking enquiries for membership, we have
managed to strike a deal with the centre for our parents.
If you have a child attending regular classes at High Green Gymnastics Academy you are eligible to receive a 15% discount
off of full membership (gym, swim and classes) at Thorncliffe Leisure Centre’s Gym taking the cost down from £32.00 to
£27.20 per month.
This discount ONLY applies to the FULL MEMBERSHIP.
Flight Dance And Gymnastics Wear
We are proud to announce that we have taken over Butterfly Wings Dancewear (previously located on Loundside) Now
located at PACES Campus in the sports reception area just past the vending machines. We are official stockists of; Bloch,
Capezio, Tappers and Pointers, Pineapple, Sansha, Flick and Many More.
Fundraising
Last year saw the club grow with the equipment, we also held a Sponsored Tumble which raised £1200 towards the cost of
the new store cupboard. We are planning to start the building work at the end of March when the better weather is here,
but still need to put some more funds to one side from the club and we are still fundraising in order to achieve the build.
Our latest ideas are as follows;
Sponsor a Brick – we basically sell bricks at a set price to raise funds
Medium Night – A night at Thorncliffe Pavilion with a physic medium
Race Night – A night at Thorncliffe Pavilion with horse racing on film
Bag Pack – At Morrison’s (Ecclesfield) or Asda (Chaucer)
Smarties
To start the fundraising off your child has received a packet of Smarties. They can eat the Smarties but in return you have
six weeks (WEEK COMMENCING 4TH APRIL 2016) to return the pack full with 20p’s, you may return your pack sooner. And
if you want another pack, please let us know!
Help
As stated above we will be starting the building work on the store at the end of March / Beginning of April and we are
looking for as much support from you as we can get. If you are a tradesman or have contacts within a building supplies
company then please see Paul who will be project managing the build. If you just want to help with any aspect of the
project even if it is just fetching and carrying then please also see Paul.
Equipment
We have recently purchased 15 landing pads that will be making an appearance in the gym as soon as the store is
completed, three are already in use.
We also have another set of bars that we are looking to store in the meantime if anyone can help us with this. If so please
speak to Paul or Paige.
We are looking to purchase a 12m Carbon Fibre Rod Tumble Track, Men’s Ring Frame and Parallel Bars this year, therefore
increasing your child’s participation experience with us.
We would like to thank gymnasts and parents for your support throughout 2015
And look forward to a successful 2016
