Tournament Information
Elimination and Championship games will have two
umpires.
Please be aware of your team’s needs, including;
players’ medical releases, scorekeeper, field
maintenance; conduct of players, coaches and parents.
Field preparation and maintenance will be the
responsibility of PYL teams. Clean Up is the
responsibility of BOTH TEAMS, including trash. In the
event two OC teams are playing each other, a PYL
representative will prepare the field. Managers, please
ask your team parents to help with field set-up and field
maintenance during the tournament.
Trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams
from all divisions. All players will receive participant
medals for the tournament. Medals will be awarded at
the conclusion of the elimination games. Trophies will
be presented to players at conclusion of championship
games.
PYLGSA Intra City Tournament Rules
Ground rules for the tournament
1. Team numbers for pool play have been drawn by TD.
2. Coin toss for home team for all games.
3. Tiebreakers: International tiebreaker rules for all
elimination game.
4. All Pool play games are 1 hour 25 minutes drop dead.
5. Bracket games will be no new inning after 1 hour 30
minutes.
6. All Championship games will have no time limit, and
will continue until a winner.
Your final scores must be reported to the Tournament
Director. The Tournament Director will update the
official boards. Be sure to review the bracket boards
after you complete each game to ensure you know when
and where your next game will be. Check with the
onsite coordinator if you have any questions. All games
will be played at Golden.
The current ASA Official Rules of Softball and PYLGSA
supplemental rules are in effect, with the following
modifications for the tournament:
1. General:
A. No pitching limits (all divisions).
B. PYLGSA Run limits will be in effect, except for
Championship Games, which are unlimited and will use
ASA Run Ahead, rules (15 in 3, 12, in 4, and 8 in 5). A
complete game will be based upon PYLGSA
supplemental for all games EXCEPT Championship
Games which will be ASA Rules of 6 innings for 8U
Division and 7 innings for 10U, and 12U. Clarification
For 8U: PYLGSA supplemental rules still apply to coach
pitch, no steal of second, and half way markers to
second and third in the Championship Game, Review
Section 14 of 8U Supplemental Rules.
C. Clarifications: PYLGSA Supplemental Rules are still
enforced: Review Section 3: Innings Required. In all
Divisions, no player shall sit out 2 or more consecutive
innings. In the 12U Division, home base is open.
D. PYLGSA supplemental rules remain in effect in all
divisions.
E. 10U – 12U: After 3 innings of play ASA run limits
apply – mercy rule in effect.
F. In the 8U/10U divisions, home base is closed during
all games and no dropped third strike.
G. Courtesy runners will be allowed for pitchers and
catchers, and injured players only.. The courtesy runner
is the last out. In the case of no outs in the first inning,
the courtesy runner is the last batter in the line-up.
Substitutions must be reported to the plate umpire.
H. Line up Cards must be used, filled out and one copy
handed into the plate umpire for both teams. Teams
will play their full roster, with free substitutions.
I. There will be one minute between innings for placing
defense. Maximum of 5 pitches between innings– no
other warm-ups between innings. This rule will be
strictly enforced by the Home plate umpire for all
games.
J. Teams listed on the Bottom of the Bracket Occupy
Third Base Dugout. EXCEPTION: Teams Playing
Consecutive Games on the Same Field DO NOT need to
change Dugouts.
K. Umpires must check in with on-site coordinator to
receive game signoff sheet, one fresh game ball, and
one extra ball. After the game, Umpires are required to
sign game slip, and have onsite coordinator sign off the
final score (and update the bracket board) prior to being
paid out. Umpire will not be paid out unless an official
game slip is registered on the tally board, and initialed
by the on-site coordinators.
L. Players, coaches and managers are restricted to the
dugout area only; base coaches only are permitted on
the field. No Buckets on the fields.
2. Game Times:
A. Game time is forfeit time (if a team is not at the
scheduled time, they will forfeit).
B. All Pool play games are 1 hour 25 minutes drop dead.
– NOTE: If the home team is tied or ahead at the end of
drop dead time, the game is over whether or not the
inning is completed. If the visiting team is at bat at the
time of expiration, and the home team is behind, the
score will revert back to the last completed inning.
C. Pool play games can end in a tie. Tie Breaker for
seeding: 1) Head to Head (2 teams only) 2) Total runs
allowed 3) Total runs scored 4) Coin flip
D. Bracket games will be No new inning after 1 hour 30
minutes (complete the inning). If the last inning results
in a tie; the international tie-breaker rule will be
imposed, and game continues until the tie is broken or
game is called by umpire. Bracket games must have a
winner.
E. Advancement to the elimination rounds will be based
upon win-loss results
F. Championship games will have no time, or run-ahead
limits, and will continue until a winner
G. Schedule is subject to change; check the website for
latest information.
3. Sportsmanship
A. All electronic equipment is forbidden in the dugout or
on the field.
A. Team mangers are responsible for their team,
coaches, parents and team spectators at all times
including on and off the field of play.
B. Artificial noisemakers of any type will not be allowed
(i.e. horns or cans filled with rocks).
C. The ASA Code of Conduct shall be enforced
throughout the tournament. Umpires and/or
Tournament Representatives shall have the
responsibility and authority to eject (out of sight and
sound) any team personnel or spectator for abusive
language, charging, bumping, shoving, striking,
threatening players, Umpires, Coaching staff, fellow
spectators, from the tournament or facility.
D. The ICAS Tournament is the foundation to ensure
girls enjoy softball and continue to improve their skills.
Managers and coaches, please make sure each player
has a positive playing experience.
