Notes
- Creighton goes home with a 1-1 split in this year’s MVC meet and closes with a final season
record of 8-21. The Bluejays slipped back below .500 in all-time tourney play at 12-13 and
Creighton, after coming from behind at the half to beat Southern Illinois Thursday night, fell to
2-18 this season in games in which the Bluejays trailed at halftime.
- The CU loss was the first in four games against Indiana State in the MVC tourney. CU is now 6-8 in all-time
MVC tourney games in Hammons Student Center. CU finished 0-3 on the season to Indiana State.
- It was a season of streaks for the Bluejays, with their season-ending loss the only time all season they’ve not
had multiple wins or losses strung together. Their season, in order, has had two losses, two wins, five losses,
four wins, 13 losses, two finals and a final loss.
- CU senior Angie Janis closes out a career in which she led her team in scoring in 18 games, including the last
eight in a row. She winds up third on the CU list in career games played (123), fifth in points (1,630), fifth in
blocked shots (91), third in rebounds (775), sixth in field goals (631) and ninth in free throws (287).
- Senior Amy Hoffman had three blocked shots vs. ISU Friday to finish her career as the Bluejays’ all-time
leader in the category with 152.
- Jim Flanery finished his fourth year at Creighton and overall as a college head coach with a 75-49 record.
-Indiana State moved its season record to 25-4 with its third win in a row and extended the ISU school record
for wins in a season. The regular season league champ Sycamores move into the tourney semifinals Saturday at
1:05 p.m. against the Wichita State-Evansville winner.
- Indiana State’s win was its first in Springfield in the conference tournament since 1998. The Sycamores’ 22point margin of victory was their 12th this season by 16 or more points in a win, and their eighth by 20 or more.
- ISU completes a 3-0 season sweep of Creighton and is now 9-23 all-time vs. CU.
- ISU’s five seniors have now recorded their 81st win in Sycamore uniforms, extending their own school mark
for a class. Melanie Boeglin extended her ISU and MVC records for career steals to 429 with three vs. CU, and
extended her MVC and ISU records for career assists to 669 with three against CU.
- ISU senior Lisa Verhoff went past the 1,000-point mark for her Sycamore career with five vs. Creighton, moving her career total to 1,002. Stephanie Lisch added 14 to move her career total to 981. ISU active leader Boeglin led the Sycamores with 21 points and raised her career total to 1,732, third on the all-time ISU list.
- Sycamore coach Jim Wiede is now 106-64 in his sixth year at ISU and overall as a college head coach.
