Thank you for being a 2016 Cleveland Plane Pull® Team Captain. Please review the
information below.
Here is the CHALLENGE:
Teams of up to 20 members will attempt to pull an airliner twelve (12) feet down the runway at
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on Saturday, July 9, 2016. The team that pulls the plane
the fastest wins!
Each team will receive one official pull for time and a practice pull to warm up.
IMPORTANT TEAM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Waivers
Team captains will be responsible for turning in signed waiver forms for ALL team members
whether they register online or not. *Participants under age 18 must have a hard copy waiver
also signed by parent or guardian.
2. Team Roster
Team captains must submit their team roster by Friday, 6/24/16. This information is needed
so that your team bag can be properly packed with the shirt sizes you request (shirts can be
exchanged at the event as supplies allow). Rosters may be emailed to [email protected] or
mailed to: CLE Plane Pull - attn. Kate Burdett, Special Olympics Ohio, 3303 Winchester Pike,
Columbus, OH 43232.
All team captains must check in their teams prior to the event. We encourage you to take
advantage of our early check-in/registration event on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
at a location to be announced. Teams may also check in from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. on the day of
the event in the I-X Center’s Parking Lot. Team captains checking in or registering on Thursday
will avoid the lines and will not need to check in again on Saturday morning. Pull times will be
assigned based upon your team’s division. ONLY TEAM CAPTAINS NEED TO CHECK IN! Team
captains are responsible for turning in all offline money, signed waivers and for collecting shirts
and wristbands for their teams.
On Saturday, July 9, 2016:
Co-Ed Division – must check in by 10:00 a.m.
Men’s and Women’s Divisions – must check in by 10:30 a.m.
Public Safety Division – must check in by 11:00 a.m.
Team Captains please bring with you to Check-In:
1. Any donations not made online via credit cards (cash, checks, matching gift forms)
2. Signed waivers for ALL participants.

Team Captains will receive the following at Check-in:
1. All team t-shirts.
2. Wristbands. Captains will receive 20 wristbands to be worn by their team at the event.
Teams may register online at CLEPlanePull.org or by sending in the registration form. All
teams must be registered by Thursday, June 30, 2016. Participants do not have to register
online but the Team Captain will be responsible for collecting waiver forms for all team
members.
2016 CLE PLANE PULL® TEAM DIVISIONS
Men’s Division
Women’s Division
Co-Ed Division - Must have a minimum of eight women
Public Safety - Must have ten members from the public safety sector
A team may pull in several divisions if they meet the requirements and the minimum team entry fee
for each division.
CLE Plane Pull participants must be at least 14 years of age.
AWARDS
All participants will receive an official 2016 Cleveland Plane Pull® t-shirt.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in each category: Men's, Women’s, Co-Ed, and
Public Safety. All members of the top team in each category will receive medals.
The top fundraising team and top individual fundraiser will also be recognized.
CHECK-IN & REGISTRATION SCHEDULE
In order to alleviate lines at registration we have streamlined the process: all participants are asked to
register online. The team captain will be responsible for turning in all offline donations and signed
waivers for all team members and for picking up the team t-shirts and wristbands. All team captains
must attend either the Early Check-In event or check in on the day of event.
There will be an Early Check-In event on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at a location to be
announced.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Practice Pull
Each team will have the opportunity to complete a practice
pull prior to their official pull.
Kids Pull
The Kids Pull will take place during the adult pull and is open
to anyone under 16 years of age. Kids Pull participants must
submit a waiver signed by a parent/guardian. There is no
charge for this event and kids do not have to have a team
prior to event day.
Kid Zone
During the Cleveland Plane Pull® we will have fun inflatables for any children attending. Bring the
kids out to enjoy the day with you!
Food Trucks
We will have food trucks for your enjoyment. These vendors have generously agreed to give a
portion of their proceeds back to Special Olympics Ohio.
5-Timer’s Club
Participants and teams that have been involved in five Cleveland Plane Pull® events
will receive special recognition at the Plane Pull® and a commemorative Cleveland
Plane Pull® 5-Timer’s Club lapel pin.

Waiver & Release of Liability:
In consideration of participation in the Special Olympics Ohio Plane Pull®, I represent that I understand the nature of the Plane
Pull® and that I and/or my minor child am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such Activity. I
acknowledge that if I and/or my minor child believe event conditions are unsafe, I and/or my minor child will immediately
discontinue participation in the Activity.
I fully understand that the Special Olympics Ohio Plane Pull® involves risks of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability,
paralysis and death, which may be caused by my own actions, or inactions, those of others participating in the event, the conditions
in which the event takes place, or the negligence of the "releasees" named below; and that there may be other risks either not
known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses,
costs, damages I and/or my minor child incur as a result of my and/or my minor child’s participation in the Activity.
I hereby release, discharge, covenant not to sue Special Olympics Inc., Special Olympics Ohio, its respective administrators, directors,
agents, officers, volunteers, employees, other participants, any sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of
premises on which the activity takes place, (each one considered on the "RELEASEES" herein) from all liability, claims, demands,
losses, or damages on my account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the "releasees" or
otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this release, waiver of liability, and assumption
of risk, I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I will indemnify, save, and hold harmless each of the
releasees from any loss, liability, damage, or cost which any may incur as the result of such claim.
I have read this release and waiver of liability, assumption of risk and indemnity agreement, and parental consent agreement and
understand that I have given up substantial rights by signing it and have signed it freely and without any inducement or assurance of
any nature and intend it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law and agree
that if any portion of this agreement is held to be invalid the balance, notwithstanding, shall continue in full force effect.
I also hereby consent to and permit emergency treatment in the event of illness or injury. I also grant you permission to use my
name, picture, voice and words in television, radio, films, newspaper, magazines, and other media, and in any other form not
heretofore described for the purpose of advertising and fund raising advertising and fund raising activities to support Special
