Degree Distribution Ceremony-2017 Report
A function for “distribution of degree certificates” for all the UG and PG students,
who passed out in examination held in July 2016, was arranged on February 11, 2017
at 11.00 am in the College auditorium. Dr. Ashwani Kumar Professor, TISS, Mumbai
was invited as the chief guest for the function. Dr Rajan Welukar (Provost, SVV) and Mr.
V Ranganathan (Secretary, Somaiya Trust) had agreed to grace the occasion. Mr.
Swadesh Khetawat (Alumni KJSCE) also graced the function. The dais was decorated
elegantly with beautiful flowers. Principal Dr. Shubha Pandit, Vice-Principal Prof. A. S.
Thosar and Controller of Examination Mrs. Anita Kantute graced the dais along with the
invitees.
Program began with Somaiya prayer followed by lighting auspicious lamp. After
Principal introduced the chief guest in her introductory speech, Dr. Welukar addressed
the students about the responsibilities they need to shoulder as a graduate. Dr Ashwani
Kumar delivered the key note speech wherein he suggested students to become
entrepreneurs and also emphasized on working as a responsible Indian citizen.
Students then took an oath, which was conducted by a graduating student Sis. Niyati
Joshi, which they will continue to work ethically for the betterment of society. The
distribution of degree certificates started by inviting the rank holders of the college to
receive their certificates at the hands of Dr Ashwani Kumar, while the office bearers of
various councils received the same from Dr Welukar, Mr. Swadesh Khetawat and Mr. V
Ranganathan. It was then declared that certificates for all the remaining students would
be distributed in their respective department seminar halls. Prof. Amrita Naiksatam
compared the entire program, Mrs. Anita Kantute proposed the vote of thanks.
Members of the examination cell as well as the members of existing Alumni
council along with Dean S A made all the arrangements for making the function
successful. All the deans, heads of the department and few faculty members were busy
in managing the auditorium, which was packed with more than 550 students and few
parents. The entire audience enjoyed the speeches and congratulated the graduating
engineers with round of applause. All the students were very happy taking photographs/
selfies with crown and degree. Their faces were glowing with the pleasure of coming
back to college after a gap of about 6-7 months and meeting friends & faculty, getting
the degree certificate. On the whole, the overall atmosphere was full of joy and
enthusiasm. Following are the glimpses of the ceremony.
