Focused Efforts around 4 Guiding Questions:
What do we want students to know and be able
to do?
 How will we know if students are learning?
 What will we do when students are not learning?
 What will we do if students already know?
(What does learning mean?)

Task 1



Break into departments or grade level teams
Determine a Facilitator / Reporter /
Timekeeper
On a flipchart sheet, record the following
components of a concept map for your team:
Overarching goal or mission
 Four main (pillars) concepts, ideas, or structures that must
be in place to achieve the goal or mission
 For each pillar, identify the foundational pieces that build
the support for the pillar.
(You and your team may select from the list provided to put
your plan together or you may develop original thoughts to
include. You have 15 minutes.)

Task 2
As a school team your faculty must
determine a single concept map for the
entire building
 You have until August 21 to submit
your concept map to the district office,
to the attention of Diane Gross
 A report will be made available to the
Haysville BOE by August 28 as an
update on initiatives and the district
plan of improvement

Task 3 and 4
Complete a Survey about Professional
Learning in the District
(Complete the survey from your perspective
based upon what you know)
 Complete a Survey about the Federal Fund
Expenditures
(Information will be distributed prior to
distribution of the survey)

Professional Learning Survey by August 15
LCP Survey within the next couple of weeks
