Round 4 saw Showtime Attractions Park hold the traditional ANZAC Day clash between the mighty Bulls and Frankston YCW. A tough day at the office for all teams against a very good Stonecats outfit. All three having a loss but showed really positive signs. Congratulations on Kristian Bleisner on winning the ANZAC Medal for Best on Ground. Well done Kristian. Over on the courts, the girls also had a tough day with all three going down but no doubt they will be back this week hungry to win. Football report 2013 Senior Coach Report – Brendan Dunne This week we had YCW, always a big battle between these two sides and this week was no different. The day was a funny one with a huge wind blowing down one end and it made for tough conditions for skills. We spoke about the past being the past and this was a new season and there is no reason why we can't beat YCW and it was going to come down to our determination and want for the footy and the contest. When playing good sides it important that you are disciplined with the teams structures and set ups for 4 quarters, whilst we have been doing this better every week we failed to do this well in the first quarter and a half and the start of the game was ultimately where we lost the game. With Grant injured it was going to be a big day for KB and he played a great game. I thought KB broke even if not beat Eames before he went down and after that dominated the game it was great to see the big fella play a great game and get rewarded with it winning the ANZAC medal. I thought that McGarry was good again kicking goals from the wing and providing lots of drive, Paxton had another great game down back and continued his good season and Pecko, Ambrose and Mathews also played well with these guys improving more every week. We don't ever except losing as a club and the loss hurt us on the weekend but with a honest chat after the game the boys have learnt and will move on. "Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will" Cheers Dunney Reserves – Pete Jordan ANZAC Day Round for the twos. We saw a very blustery day. We had a great start where we went into our forward line quite a few times, but found it hard to convert because of the windy conditions. We had a few regulars missing through work and injuries. The 2nd quarter, YCW kicked with the wind which had to make we had to tighten up and the back line and on ballers had to work very hard, which they did very well. We had Cam, Hicks, Gonz, Mick Lindley, Mick McLeod, Tim Mc… All working together and the boys were working all over the ground. We are starting to work to team structures. We have gained a lot from the day. Plenty of positives to take out of the game. For players and coaches. I am very confident; we will start to build our season, this weekend in which we play Chelsea. So keep supporting the twos. The wins are on the way. Best: Gonz, Hicksy, Trav Kellerman, Rob Ryde and Tim Mc. U18s – Michael Triep No report given this week. CLUB 44 - Honouring Justin Groves Club 44 was struck in honor of the memory of Justin Groves, a player who tragically passed away in his twenties. Justin was a passionate Karingal person who wore his heart on his sleeve and it is hoped that members of Club 44 share the passion and desire for success that Justin possessed not only for Karingal but in life. The Groves family has had an association with Karingal for over 30 years and those who have witnessed Justin’s father and brother David and Paul supporting the club will understand how much victory would have meant to Justin. The number 44 is symbolic because this is the number Justin wore in all of his games for Karingal. Club 44 retains an element of exclusivity because of its limited with the Club 44 insignia printed on them. In 2004 the Groves family struck an annual award to be given at each Presentation Night. The Club 44 award is given to the player exhibiting the qualities that Justin displayed throughout his career. Courage to perform under adversity, Determination to succeed against stronger opposition and Tenacity to persist until the result is achieved. In addition to a trophy the winner can elect to wear jumper number 44 in the following season, his family feels truly touched by the warmth with which this club has been accepted. Even with Justin’s passing he continues to have an emotional and tangible influence on the success of the Karingal Football Club CLUB 44 Winners: 2004 – Ben Gothard 2005 – David Measham 2006 – Matt Jakobi 2007 – Justin Peckett 2008 – Steve Charalambous 2009 – Robbie Clements 2010 – Justin Farrelly 2011 – Bevan Malloy 2012 – Troy Hoad 2013 Package: $250 – Paid by Round 1 (Club 44 Day), otherwise $275 Insider Email – Regular updates straight from the coach. 4 Guest passes – To allow people entry to game & half time as required Club Membership – Entry to All Home Games C44 Corporate Hat – Supplied by Blue Gum Clothing $80 Voucher – To be used for drinks, merchandise or Pre Season Lunch / Seafood Lunch Tickets 1/2 Time Functions In Rooms for games @ Showtime Attractions Park Club 44 Day – Beer, Wine & Soft Drink – Round 2 April 13th V Langwarrin 12 pm Onwards Netball Report Last Saturday at the Bullpit wasn't the day we'd hoped for. The sun was shining but the scores didn't go our way. YCW put three strong teams on court & our A & C grade took up the challenge only losing by ten & seven goals respectively. Claire defended well in C grade, Kell kept running & sent good feeds into Laura in goals. Renae assisted in GA & didn't stop working in & out of the ring. Our best wishes go out to Monica from YCW who went off with an ankle injury - hoping for a speedy recovery! A grade worked well from the first whistle & again Emily & Rach in defence were great. Beck & Steph rotated well in goals & their hard work at training is paying off. Angela Anderson everyone's fave physio & strapping extraordinaire - was a jet in centre & looks to have cemented her position in A. B grade let the game slip away after a great first quarter, goals just weren't dropping but there was massive improvement from our previous weeks. We need to keep up the positive encouragement of team mates & ensure there is more talk on the court! This week is our week girls!
