Job Description and Person Specification Last updated: 23 November 2015 JOB DESCRIPTION Post title: Equality and Diversity Officer Academic Unit/Service: Human Resources (Diversity Team) Faculty: Professional Services (COO) Career Pathway: Management, Specialist and Administrative (MSA) *ERE category: n/a Posts responsible to: Head of Equality and Diversity Posts responsible for: n/a Post base: Office-based Level: 3 Job purpose To apply judgement and provide detailed, specialist advice and guidance relating the University’s equality and diversity policies and practice, and support the Head of Equality and Diversity to ensure the provision of comprehensive, effective and efficient delivery of the University’s equality objectives. Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 1. To assist the Head of Equality and Diversity in implementing diversity and equality policies and procedures across the University. 15 % 2. To apply a detailed understanding of equality and diversity practice to independently resolve queries and provide advice and guidance on procedures and related issues as required. 15 % 3. To develop and support the E&D team in priority areas of work including Athena SWAN, working with specific departments as required and at a corporate level under the supervision of the Head of E&D. 15 % 4. To maintain and where appropriate devise new administration processes to ensure the efficient running of the Equality and Diversity Office, including responding to and monitoring emails and telephone enquiries and website updating. 10 % 5. To assist in the co-ordination of equality and diversity implementation projects, by monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the progress of projects. 10 % Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 6. To support and work closely with equality networks supported by the E&D team, including 10 % the Harassment Contacts and the Parents and Carers Network. 7. To prepare and undertake detailed research and analysis of data to inform the shaping of equality and diversity policies and reports and in response to internal and external requests. 10 % 8. To attend meetings for and on behalf of the Head of Equality and Diversity and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders independently on behalf of the Equality and Diversity Office when required. 10 % 9. To make arrangements for meetings, events, seminars etc. by arranging venues, coordinating diaries, preparing papers and carrying forward any action points as necessary with the Head of Equality and Diversity. 5% 10. Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.
