Trueblood Cup
2017 Tournament Guide
ALL golfers of the University of Michigan community are eligible for this friendly competition at our premiere
facilities: Alister MacKenzie’s University of Michigan Golf Course and Pete Dye’s Radrick Farms Golf
Course. If you are eligible to play at either course, you can play in this event!
The BASIC RULES:


Choose your side: Team Dye (Radrick Farms) or Team MacKenzie (U of M Golf Course)?
Every player must have an active USGA Handicap Index. Contact
Qualifying Rounds:
Andrew at UMGC or Danielle at RFGC if you need one (info
below).
June 1st - August 1st
 Players grouped into flights based on USGA handicap indexes.
Practice Rounds:
o Flights based on the quality of the field.
August 2nd- August 26th
o Tee position will also be determined after field is finalized.
Final Round: August 27th
 If you cannot participate in the Final Round on August 27th, you
will be substituted with an alternate (identified by committee).
 In the event of a tie, the current host of the Trueblood Cup (currently Team Dye) will retain possession
of the cup.

TEAM QUALIFYING:
36-Hole Qualifier (18 holes at each course) – Players schedule own qualifying rounds.

Tee Times can be made 14 days in advance through each course’s Golf Shop Team
o Please indicate that you are scheduling a time for this event.
o Non-Season Pass Holders cannot play at Radrick before noon on weekends / holidays.
 Cart rental fees and range ball fees still apply during qualifying rounds.
 You must declare that you are competing in your official
Qualifier Scoring:
qualifying round upon check-in.
Birdie: 2 points
Par: 1 point
 You must play with someone that is willing to attest to your score
Bogey: 0 points
 You can bring up to 3 guests with you (only applies to qualifying
Double bogey or worse: -1 point
rounds).
 36-Hole Bogey/Par Format: Your match is “against” every hole at both courses (see “Qualifier
Scoring” box).
 The top two point scorers in each flight (from each course) will qualify for team competition.
TEAM COMPETITION:
Qualifier Practice Rounds– Players schedule practice rounds during regular play.


Players who qualify for the team competition may play ONE
complimentary practice round at each course prior to the Final
Round
Qualifier’s will receive a Team MacKenzie or a Team Dye
uniform to wear on the final day
Practice Rounds:
Aug 2nd – Aug 26
Team Best Ball Match Play – Final Round, August 27th.

Players from each flight will play against the players from the corresponding, opposing course flight in
an 18 hole best ball match play format (see USGA Rules best ball / aka “Four Ball Match”).
 To be held the afternoon of Saturday, AUGUST 27th at UMGC
Best Ball Scoring:
 The rain date is Sept 24th. Please save both dates.
Win Match: 2 points
 Tee Times will begin after 1:00 p.m.
Tie Match: 1 point
 There will be a BBQ Dinner and awards banquet at the Richard L. Postma
Clubhouse after golf for all competitors.



WINNING TEAM:
Highest combined total points for the Team
Competition determines winning Team.
All skill levels can qualify, compete, and win.
Trueblood Cup hosted at winning course for
the following year.
