Olde Providence Recreation Association

Spring 2010 Sponsorship Form
Who is OP?
Olde Providence Recreation Association (OPRA) is a non-profit organization that has been a provider of quality,
innovative, and enjoyable recreational experiences for over 20 years. Currently, the Association offers six different
quality sports programs from which to choose Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Softball and Cheerleading.
OPRA is comprised of more than 1600 families in the South Mecklenburg County area. In 2009, over 3500 players
and 200 coaches participated in OPRA sports programs. In 2009, OPRA experienced another year of growth. We play
on many fields at several locations, across the South Charlotte area.
Our Mission:
The mission of Olde Providence Recreation Association is to serve the needs of the youth community in South
Charlotte. OPRA will provide opportunities for learning, development, and competition, for youth players of all levels,
from the introductory player, to the experienced player who is considered a prospect for his or her high school or
collegiate team.
What It Takes to Be Successful:
We have achieved our level of success due to the time, talent, and treasure of our Families and the Businesses that
have supported OPRA in the past. We will continue to grow and succeed with the future support of our Families and
an ever increasing South Charlotte Business Community.
OPRA has worked closely with Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to
reserve field space for our teams to play. In order to maintain the rights to this critical field capacity, OPRA has the
additional burden of financing field fees and maintenance costs for the fields on which we play. Many other
recreation associations with whom we compete around the greater Charlotte Region are subsidized by local
community funding (MARA, Weddington, etc.), while OPRA depends solely on our sponsorship partners.
What Role Sponsorship Plays:
In order for OPRA to continue to provide the highest level of athletic enjoyment, development, and challenge, in the
Charlotte area, we must continue to have greater sponsor support. As inflation impacts our families, it too impacts
our costs to manage a program of this size. Two key attributes to any recreation organization’s success, is to be able
to provide “open access” to all and to have a strong linkages to the community in which they reside and for whom
they serve. This requires us to keep the costs to families as reasonable as possible. Sponsorship has served, and will
continue to serve, as a critical component to our Association’s ability to fulfill its mission.
We know times are difficult, OPRA is facing tough economic times in 2010, just like many of you are. Requests for
financial assistance are at very high levels. Your valued sponsorship dollars will go to providing scholarships,
uniforms and equipment to kids of OP. We have always appreciated all that our sponsors have contributed to our
association. We understand that in these troubled times your businesses are having it hard also, so this year to
show our appreciation for your continued support, we are implementing new cost structures and sponsorship
options. OPRA is offering reduced rates for season and annual sponsors, discounts for returning sponsors and
payment plans if needed.
OPRA is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. All organizational positions are voluntary. So every dollar you
give goes directly into programs that our players and coaches participate in, and into maintenance of the fields on
which they play. We appreciate Sponsor’s participation and are continually looking for more ways to create mutual
value for Sponsors and OPRA.
On behalf of all the Players, Coaches, and Families that make up OPRA, thank you for your support.
