Last year our NCS students undertook over 200,000 hours of social action projects to improve their communities The Middlesbrough FC Foundation have reduced crime by 30% in one of the most deprived wards in England The social value of Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s mentoring programme is calculated to be over £2,373,800 Doncaster Rovers Foundation have engaged with 13,993 unique participants to promote community participation in healthy recreation The Council also affords weight to the fact that the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has extensive preventative health, sporting participation and education benefits that would enhance the health, well-being and social opportunities for many people in the area Norwich City's Community Sports Foundation engaged with over 30,000 people last year, including work with disabled and disadvantaged people. Our youngest participant was 2 years old and our oldest was 102! Southend United 38% of Colchester United current registered academy players have progressed from Development Centre session operated by The Football in the Community department Our Move and Learn project has taught over 15,000 children aged 5-11 the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. FEMALE FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT Partnership between FLT, the FA & Sport England Inspired over 26,000 new players to date. Focus on fun and fitness has brought the benefits of sport to women and girls who may otherwise not have played any football. Brentford FC took a direct approach to changing lives through football by taking FFD into the local prison. This gave participants a positive outlook, helping them reintegrate into society and reduce re-offending. “ This is a brilliant opportunity for me to have a second chance in life, with new friends in a new area. Playing football again has improved my confidence and self-esteem and reduced the worries I had about reintegrating into society.” Lavana, Brentford Women’s FC KINDER + SPORT: MOVE & LEARN Project designed to get children active and promote healthy eating. Over the course of six 90 minute weekly sessions, children will learn about the body, nutrition, the importance of exercise and food groups and take part in a practical session of football, handball and dodgeball. 21,000 children engaged in 2014/14. Players at clubs have acted as ambassadors for the project and schools get to take part in half-time penalty shoot-outs. EDUCATION & FUTSAL PROGRAMME Full time FE programme – BTEC sports diploma level 1-3 Began in 10/11 with 90 students. Now over 1300 students at 50 clubs around England and Wales. Many progress into higher education. Annual cup featured on Soccer AM with finals held at the Copperbox Futsal development manager to join the programme for 15/16 academic year to develop the coaches working on the programme. CASE STUDY 1: UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH WALES Foundation Degree – Community Football Coaching and Development Students based at football club community trusts around the country. Work based learning embedded into the degree to give vital experience to students Coaching qualifications form part of the programme After two years, students have real experience of working at a football club, a foundation degree and coaching qualifications, preparing them for employment in the industry or progressing to do a top up year.
