Park Field Rules – Baseball (In-Season) General Rules 1. In case of a close game (within 4 runs) and a player is injured with 10 minutes or less, the clock must stop until the player is able to play or replaced. 2. Sun Glasses – Players are allowed to wear sun glasses (unless on the mound). 3. Jewelry – Players are allowed to wear 1 necklace (ex. Phiten Players necklace). 4. Clothing – Players are allowed to wear long sleeve shirts under their uniforms. All colors are allowed (ex. white, yellow, red, black, etc…) 5. Head coaches must agree on pick up players. If no agreement can be reach, the MYA commissioner for that age division will decide. This player will bat last and play right field. 6. A team may only pick up enough players to reach a total of nine players. 7. The home team is always assigned to the 1st base dugout. 8. Protests/Appeals/Questions - Any coach from the team in play can approach the umpire with a question (Dizzy Dean Rule). 9. Once game time has expired, the game will not be called until the current inning is finished. 10. 1st base coaches can give the player a “congratulatory” high five after the player has turned towards the fence and is making his approach towards the base. After that player has taken the base, the coach cannot touch him/her. 3rd base coaches can not touch a player unless time is called. 11. Uniforms – Players must have their shirts tucked in (unless special circumstances prohibit it). Coaches must have on coach’s shirt or Board member shirt and appropriate pants or shorts (ex. exercise pants or shorts, khaki pants or shorts, etc.) 12. No headfirst sliding is allowed, except for returning to a base when leading off in the 11/12 division. 13. Bats - follow Dizzy Dean specific rules. For more information see Dizzy Dean website, www.alabamadizzydean.com 14. Smoking – There is to be no smoking under the concession stand awnings or near the playing fields (dugouts or bleachers). Per City Ordinance, smoking is only allowed at the end of the fences (right or left field) away from the main playing field and concession stand area. 15. Code of Conduct – Remember all coaches, parents, etc. are expected to follow the park code of conduct. See MYA website for more details. 5/6 Division 1. All games will be played with a 1 hour and 15 minute time limit. 2. A team can score no more than 7 runs an inning. Each team bats until 7 runs are scored or 3 outs are made. 3. Teams must take the field with a catcher. 4. No intentional rolling of the ball. If ball is “rolled”, play is dead and runner is safe. 7/8 Division 1. All games will be played with a 1 hour and 15 minute time limit. 2. A team can score no more than 7 runs an inning. Each team bats until 7 runs are scored or 3 outs are made. 3. Coaches must pitch from distance of at least 30 feet. 9/10 Division 1. All games will be played with a 1 hour and 30 minute time limit. 2. A team can score no more than 7 runs an inning. Each team bats until 7 runs are scored or 3 outs are made. 3. Pitching – pitch under Dizzy Dean rules. 4. A new pitching week starts on Sunday. In other words, a pitcher can start over on Monday. 5. Balks will not be called. 6. If a team wishes to intentionally walk a batter they may do so without actually throwing a pitch. This is done by the manager/head coach signaling from the dugout to the home plate umpire to put the batter on first base. If done before the first pitch no pitches will be counted against the pitcher's pitch count. 11/12 Division 1. All games will be played with a 1 hour and 30 min time limit. 2. A team can score no more than 7 runs an inning. Each team bats until 7 runs are scored or 3 outs are made. 3. Pitching – pitch under Dizzy Dean rules. 4. A new pitching week starts on Sunday. In other words, a pitcher can start over on Monday. 5. Balks – During the first 2 weeks of the season, balks will not be called. However, the umpire will address it so the coaches can teach properly. The only way a balk can be called during the 2 week period is if the player stops during the throwing motion. After the 2 weeks, balks will be called. 6.
