~~School Finishing Times~~
A request was received by the Governing Body to consider the School's
finishing times so that the 15 minutes between the end of the school day for
the Infants and Juniors could be reduced. The Governors were concerned that
reducing the time below 15 minutes would result in increased congestion around
the local area and so did a vehicle count to see how many more cars would need
to be accommodated into the local area. Their findings highlighted the
following:




A significant number of more cars belonging to Junior parents would have
to fit into the local streets and therefore the congestion would become an
even greater problem, which is already considered a risk to the children of
the school.
There is considerable space in the car park at the cricket club which
parents are not using.
Cars continue to park illegally seemingly without regard for the safety of
the children and others, particularly those parking right at or too near to a
junction.
That parents start to park from 2:15pm so that they can be as close as
possible to the school and once parked, move their car further towards the
school as spaces become available.
Consideration was also given to those parents who have work commitments that
fit around our current opening and closing times. Consequently the decision was
made that due primarily to parking issues, we are not going to change the
finishing times of the school day. However, we will continue allowing siblings of
Infant children to leave school at 2:15pm in exceptionally cold or wet weather.
Should anyone wish to comment, please write to The Governing Body via the Chair,
Mrs J Griffith.
