Parent Dragon Connection – October 2, 2016:
• Please stay current with your child’s fees, cafeteria charges,
and digital repair fees. Students that owe more than
$50 will not be able to participate in extra-curricular
activities.
• The SMS PTA is asking all parents to join them in
supporting the school and their students. The PTA
sponsors student dances, the Variety Show, and all
Teacher Appreciation events. They also provide grants
to teachers for special projects. Your $10 membership
goes a long way for the PTA to provide all of this
support. Please print off the PTA form from the website
or have your student pick one up at the main office. The
homeroom with the most PTA member parents will win
a party of their choice.
• Outside food should not be delivered to students at lunch.
• The book fair is coming to SMS on November 4th – 8th.
• Fall pictures will be taken on October 25th.
• The training date for volunteers for Teen Court has been
changed to Saturday, October 15th – 8th grade students
that are interested should see Ms. Jeffreys.
• The Orchestra will begin its annual Cookie Dough
Fundraiser on Monday. Students will receive materials
in class. Everyone interested in ordering should find an
orchestra student or see Mr. Kopecky. The fundraiser
will end on October 17th and orders will arrive before
Thanksgiving.
• Step team tryouts are this week – Monday through
Thursday from 3:00-4:30. Tryouts will end at 4:00 on
Thursday.
• Softball and tennis will play at home on Monday at 4:00
against Crains Creek Middle School.
• The Ballroom Dance Club will meet on Tuesday from 3:003:45.
• There will be Speech/Debate practice on Tuesday afternoon
until 4:00.
• The Cross Country team will practice on Monday, Tuesday
and Wednesday until 4:30.
• The Pay It Forward Club will meet in Ms. Badgett’s room
on Wednesday from 3:00-3:45.
• Drama Club will meet on Tuesday from 3:00-4:00.
• There is a home football game on Wednesday at 4:00
against West Lee Middle School.
• The Pinecrest High School homecoming parade will be on
Wednesday, October 5th at 6:00 on Broad Street in
Southern Pines.
• Softball and tennis play at North Moore on Thursday at
4:00.
• There will be a Cross Country Meet on Thursday at 4:00 at
New Century Middle School
• Students that are staying after school for a game must have
$2 – they will come to the cafeteria at dismissal and
walk to the field as a group. Students may not leave
campus and return without an adult.
