In Literacy, we will be looking at Persuasive
texts, instructions, performance poetry and a
recount. These topics will be based on our trips
to Lichfield and the National Space Centre.
In Numeracy, we will be looking place number,
the number system and addition and subtract
using our pathways. We be practising our times
tables throughout the term.
In Science, the topic is Earth and Beyond.
Where we will focussing on the Solar System,
the moon and orbits.
In Geography, we will be comparing the
human and physical characteristics of
Wolverhampton and Lichfield.
In Art, we will be researching, designing and
making our own sculpture that would
suitably it placed in Wolverhampton City
Centre.
In Music, we will compose and perform our
own music about our community.
In RE, Year 5 will look at the Sikhism in our
neighbourhood and grouping up in a Sikh
family.
The children will have two wonderful experiences this term- one, a trip to
Lichfield for our Geography topic and, the other, a trip to The National Space
Centre to aid our Science and Literacy work.
We will also be experiencing a day with a Sikh from the community for RE.
Homework
Literacy and Numeracy homework will continue
to be set Wednesday and Friday. Spellings will be
set every Monday. Reading on Tuesdays and
Thursday- please write a comment in your child’s
diary when they have read.
Please continue to sign your child’s diary every
day.
PE Kits
Don’t forget PE is every Monday
afternoon – PE kits need to be in school
ready.
Computing
Within our computing lessons we will be
creating a game/app and using coding
skills.
