Supplement 43 – Ultrasound ND Storage SOP Classes
Work on this topic is temporarily on hold due to the absence of a champion.
8.
Supplement 63 – Multi-Dimensional Interchange
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under active development by members of
WG-17.
9.
Supplement 74 – Radiation Therapy General Purpose Worklist Extensions and
Calculation Service Model
On behalf of DICOM’s WG-07, the document’s editor, Scott Hogan, summarized the history of
this supplement and changes in direction that it has taken over the last year. Mr. Hogan
explained that the objective for this presentation was to obtain (1) detailed comments from WG06 regarding WG-07’s progress to date and (2) guidance on several specific issues. After a short
discussion of the specific questions from WG-07 and reassurance with regard to its current
directions, members urged WG-07 to move forward along its current track.
10.
Supplement 78 – Fetal and Pediatric Echocardiography Procedure Reports
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under active development by members of
WG-12.
11.
Supplement 83 – Enhanced XA & XRF Image Storage SOP Class
On behalf of WG-02, Chair Heinz Blendinger and Supplement 83 Editor Bas Revet briefed
members regarding the WG-02 response to the three sets of comments received during the public
comment period, which closed on November 8, 2004. Subsequently, they led a line-by-line
review of the entire supplement. Upon completing this review and revising the supplement to
reflect the recommendations suggested by WG-06, members unanimously voted to approve the
document’s distribution for Letter Ballot.
12.
Supplement 86 – Digital Signatures in Structured Reports
On behalf of WG-14, Chair Lawrence Tarbox summarized the history of this document’s
development. While the DICOM Standards Committee approved this work item in November of
2001, the group’s efforts to complete the work were temporarily set aside due to the press of
other urgent business. In January of 2005, the document was approved for Public Comment.
None were submitted. Accordingly, members initially focused their attention on
recommendations from WG-14 for resolving the Open Issues. Following this, Dr. Tarbox led a
detailed, line-by-line review of this draft supplement. Following that review, members
unanimously voted to approve the distribution of this supplement for Letter Ballot.
13.
Supplement 89 – Worklist and Performed Procedure Step Use Cases (Informative)
This document was sent for public comment with a closing date of December 20, 2004. Five
sets of comments (Agfa, Dimatics, GE, Hologic and Zeiss) were formally submitted to the
936
Working Group Six (Base Standard)
of the DICOM Standards Committee

secretary. Two additional sets of internal Siemens comments were sent directly to the editor. Al
Belden initiated a discussion of these comments. However, due to the number of individual
comments that were submitted, he was unable to complete the task.
One complicating factor is that IHE is working on a similar document and care must be taken to
ensure that the two are fully harmonized. Accordingly, members urged Mr. Belden to contact
the editor of IHE’s document and propose that both groups work together
14.
Supplement 94 – Radiation Dose Reporting
Heinz Blendinger, chair of the Ad Hoc working Group on Dose Reporting, which draws its
membership from WG-02, WG-06, WG-08, WG-15 and WG-21 presented, for its first reading,
an early version of this draft supplement. Members provided a considerable degree of guidance
concerning the future development of this supplement and urged Mr. Blendinger to return at the
earliest opportunity.
15.
Supplement 95 – Audit Trail Messages
This Supplement was approved as a Trial Use Draft during the June 2004 meeting of WG-06.
The results of these trials will be reviewed in June of 2005.
16.
Supplement 96 – General Purpose Worklist Step Creation
This document was issued for public comment with a closing date of March 7, 2005. It will be
reviewed for letter ballot during the group’s June meeting.
17.
Supplement 97 – CT/MR Cardiovascular Analysis Report
This document was distributed for Public Comment with a closing date of 20 December 2004.
Three sets of comments were received. On behalf of WG-01, Harry Solomon led a review of the
comments and WG-01’s response to them. Unfortunately, the subsequent discussion revealed
that some necessary information was missing and could not be corrected during the meeting.
The supplement will be reviewed again in June.
18.
Supplement 98 – Retirement of Detached, Stand-alone and Other Services
Not discussed at this meeting.
19.
Supplement 99 – Extended Negotiation of User Identity
This document was issued for letter ballot in January of 2005. It received 28 positive votes, no
negative votes, no abstentions and no comments. On behalf of WG-14 Dr. Tarbox led a quick
review of the document. After a few minor editorial changes, members unanimously voted to
approve the document for Final Text.
20.
Supplement 100 – Color Softcopy Presentation State Storage SOP Classes
Not discussed at this meeting.

21.
Supplement 101 – HL7 Structured Document Object References
This document was approved for Public Comment in November of 2004. No comments were
received. Nevertheless, members of WG-20 held several teleconferences to review the document
and further refine it – mostly through improvements in the Informative Annex. On behalf of
WG-20, Harry Solomon presented the revised version of this document (version 16) and led a
line-by-line discussion of it. Following this review and some further refinement, members voted,
with one abstention (Siemens), to approve its distribution for Letter Ballot.
22.
Supplement 102 – Radiotherapy Extensions for ION Therapy
This supplement was distributed for Public Comment early in October of 2004, but since all
vendors are involved in the standards development effort, no comments were received.
Therefore, WG-06 launched into a detailed line-by-line review of version #7 of this document.
Members of WG-07 will make some editorial changes and inform the secretary, who will
arrange a WG-06 Tcon seeking approval for letter ballot.
23.
Supplement 103 – Real World Value Mapping SOP Class
Not discussed at this meeting.
24.
Supplement 104 – DICOM Encapsulation of PDF Objects
This document was issued for letter ballot in January of 2005. It received 27 positive votes, one
negative vote, one abstention and four comments. Herman Oosterwijk led members in a detailed
analysis and discussion of each comment. This was followed by a line-by-line review of the
entire document. After a few minor editorial changes, members voted with one abstention
(Dynamic Imaging) to approve the document for Final Text.
25.
Supplement 105 – JPEG 2000 Part 2 Multi-component Transfer Syntaxes
This supplement was sent for Public Comments following the November 2004 meeting of WG06. Three comments were received. On behalf of WG-04, Lev Weisfeiler explained how WG04 had responded to these comments and led a line-by-line review of the resulting document. In
the course of this review, several refinements were made. Subsequently, members voted
unanimously to issue the supplement for Letter Ballot.
26.
Supplement 106 – JPEG Progressive Interactive Protocol (JPIP)
On behalf of DICOM’s WG-04, John Fehrenbach led a review of this document (draft #5). The
key issue was deciding how best to deal with the patent claims asserted by Stentor and its
decision to not participate in the DICOM Standards Committee or any DICOM Working Groups.
Members decided to explain the patent situation in the list of Open Issues at the beginning of the
Supplement with an indication that it will not be possible to move beyond the public comment
phase unless the matter is resolved in the marketplace. Members, then, proceeded to conduct a
traditional review and revision of the document. Upon completion of this exercise, with one
abstention (GE HealthCare), members voted to approve the supplement’s distribution for Public

Comment. However, due to the exceptional circumstances identified in the Open Issues section
of this document, the Public Comment period will be extended until August 1, 2005.
27.
Supplement 107 – Verification of Substance Administration & Substance Information
Query
Not discussed at this meeting. This supplement is under active development by members of
WG-06.
28.
