- Bilston Partnership Youth League

Report for Sunday September 25thth 2016
By Rosemary Ball & Gavin Reynolds
Another great day of action in the Bilston League with the twenty-one games
bringing no shortage of excitement and net-busting action. Fourteen home
wins, four away wins and three draws kept the early-season tables alive with
possibilities.
Game of the day came at Blakenhall Wanderers who welcomed Salisbury
Rangers in the u17s division. This score-a-thon saw EIGHTEEN goals fly in as the
home side took the points winning 12-6 – details in the u17 section.
Hot-shot of the day was Sam Booth of Ashmore Park Rangers u16s who hit SIX
of his team’s seven goals. Sam was one of ten players to score at least three,
and the exploits of two such players are described immediately as we kick-off a
detailed look at this week’s games:
Under 13s division
Tyrone Bull was in fine form as he netted 5 goals for All Star Wanderers in their
game v Punjab United. Team mate Maxwell Corinaldi wasn’t far behind as he
found the net on 4 occasions with Tyler Lee Jones adding to Wanderers 10 – 3
score. Taran Singh Sanghera scored 2 and Talvinder Singh Khella 1 in Punjab’s
reply.
AFC Willenhall celebrated their first win of the season with a close 3 -2 victory
over Lanehead Bullets. Willenhall’s Tom Page netted 2 and Luke Sarullo 1.
Farley Kidner and Dean Taundry replied for Lanehead.
It was honours even as the game between Springvale Leopards and AFC
Woodcross concluded in a 3- 3 draw. Last week’s scorer for Springvale Pharrel
Edwards netted 2 with Chiko Madanhi 1. Hope Nkengo bagged 2 for
Woodcross with Thomas Benton scoring 1.
Under 16s Division One
Ashmore Park Rangers maintained their 100% start thanks to a third straight
win, this one coming at Bustleholme where APR won 7-1. For the home side,
Bechnam Brazier found the net, whereas APR’s Sam Booth hit SIX and Reece
Banks slotted home the other.
Bloxwich Rangers entertained St Joseph’s Colts with the visitors looking to
continue where they left off with their victory last week. On this occasion
though the home side proved too strong with Bloxwich earning a 3-1 win
courtesy of goals from Charley Harris (2) and Aaron Alcock. On the scoresheet
for St Joseph’s was Jordan Lane.
Colts’ stablemates St Joseph’s Saints fared better in their home game against
Sedgley White Lions, but could not take all three points as the visitors held
them to a 3-3 draw. For Sedgley, Jack Glasby, William Morral and Kai Goodchild
found the net to earn their team a precious first point of the season, and for
the home side Omar Alexander hit the net twice and teammate Zachariah
Whitehouse also scored, meaning the Saints have an unbeaten start to the
season with a win and this draw.
In the table, Ashmore Park Rangers rule the roost with nine points from three
games, already opening up a gap to second where Bloxwich (four from three)
and St Joseph’s Saints (four from two) lead the chasing pack.
Under 16s Division Two
Three teams who had each won one and drawn one before this week’s games,
all won to remain unbeaten and end the day tied at the top of the table on
seven points.
Silverdale Rangers enjoyed a 5-3 home win over Great Barr Harriers who had
Ryan Singh (2) and Oskar Porerski on the scoresheet. Silverdale had four
players hit the net, led by Barinda Bhandal with two, and Ciprian Turcanu,
Jordan Young Taylor and Kevin Wallace.
Springvale Steelers couldn’t quite repeat last week’s feat of hitting seven but
still came away from Woden Warriors with a commendable 6-0 win. A goal
apiece from Jamie Dickenson, Ryan Thomas, Cameron Permberton and Derrel
Williams with two from Latrell Foster saw Springvale home safely.
Wyrley Juniors Colts welcomed Churches FC to their new home at Bentley
Road South, and proved too strong for the visitors earning a 6-2 victory thanks
to strikes from Jack Plant and Jospin Mangolo who each grabbed two, with Billy
Beddard and Jack Parker netting once each. Churches’ Luke Emillard hit both of
his team’s goals.
The remaining game in this division saw Phoenix Warriors take on visiting
Coven Utd. An entertaining encounter saw honours even with a 2-2 draw. For
Phoenix, Armend Tora scored both whilst Coven’s Max Hague and Luke
Baynham did the business to secure the draw. This result sees Phoenix tied for
fourth in the table with Woden Warriors (four points from three games).
Under 17s Division
So to the details of the aforementioned Game of the Day – Blakenhall’s 12-6
win over Salisbury Rangers. What a way to get a first win, and you have to take
your hat off to Salisbury who clearly gave their all. On the scoresheet for the
visitors were Thomas Weaver (2), Lewis Collins, Jack Plant, Bradley Butler and
the mysterious OG. For the delighted home team Dylan Spragg led the way
with four, Brandon Hodson grabbed a hat-trick, Nathan Barker and Aiden
Davies scored two each and Leon Fletcher helped himself to one.
An equally exciting - but closer - encounter took place at AFC Bilston who
welcomed Gunners FC. The visitors had drawn their one prior match and hit
four in search of a first win, but AFC kept up their unbeaten start to the season
emerging victorious thanks to their six-goal haul from six players – Summers,
Morris, Tinsley, Hodgson, Saroy and Ledwidge. On target for Gunners with one
each were Jake Bailey and Billy Cartwright, and Daniel Caunt hit two.
Wood Green Athletic ensured they finished the day level at the top with AFC
Bilston (seven points from three games) by beating Punjab Utd 4-0 away. Scott
Mansel, Josh O’Toole, Daniel Winter and Alec Harvey hit the goals that took
the points.
Finally, Queslett Crusaders made it a two out of two start with another home
win this week against Great Barr Harriers. For Queslett, Curtis Bullock smacked
in two, and Callum Wight and Kasen Peace completed their four goals. Great
Barr had Jackson Game and Ryan Savatard hit the net once each – final score 42.
This win gives Queslett third place by themselves with six points, just one
behind the joint leaders AFC Bilston and Wood Green Athletic who have both
played one game more.
Under 19s Division
Four games, 29 goals, and three clean sheets on an entertaining day in the
League’s second oldest age-group.
Two teams – Bloxwich Town and Old Hall Eagles - started the day with a 100%
record from the opening two games, and both maintained that form – and top
spot in the table - in fine style.
Old Hall Eagles welcomed Bloxwich Rangers and the game went to form as the
home side ran out 7-0 winners thanks to a hat-trick from Josh Mcfarland, two
from Simms Sibande and one apiece from Michael Nana and Nathan Griffiths.
Bloxwich Town also won at home without conceding, enjoying a 6-0 result
against Penkridge FC. A hat-trick from Liam Rounds, two from Branson Marriot
and one from Luke Oakley secured the win.
Cheslyn Hay notched up their first win of the campaign with a 9-0 victory at
home to Great Barr Harriers (Athletic). A third hat-trick hero of the day in this
division was Jazz Hazel, and his teammates also hitting net were Teddy Pomroy
and Callum Drewfield (two each), LJ Campbell and Jack Squires.
With a hat-trick scored in each of the other games, Coven Utd’s Charlie
Swingwood didn’t want to spoil the party, so hit three in his team’s 5-2 home
win over Brocton Youth. Also on target for Coven were Kieran Turley and
George Taberner. Patrick O’Connor and Will Trotman replied for the visitors
who now have three points from their two games, whilst Coven lie third in the
table with six points from their three matches.
Under 21s Division
Three games with two teams – Shere Punjab and Wyrley Juniors (Wolves) –
both making their first starts this season; against each other. Shere Punjab (the
home team) came from 2-0 down to take the three points by hitting five in
reply. Scott Gill grabbed both for Wyrley before half-time, but after the restart
Shere Punjab clicked into gear and two goals from Delon Parkinson and one
each for J Robinson, Aron Summer and Trevor Powell saw them to victory.
Two teams who had lost their opening fixture met at Hydes Road Playing Fields
and home side Park Hill Boys avoided a second defeat by beating Penn Rovers
4-0 thanks to three from Connor Livesey and one from Mark Ward.
This week’s Last-But-Not-Least honour goes to Trysull Tigers and Penkridge FC
who met at Trysull’s Ounsdale Leisure Centre pitch. The home side took their
second three points of the season with a 4-2 win. Will Spruce (2), Joel Crainer
and Steve Rickhuss found the net for Trysull, whilst Penkridge players Thomas
Welling and Jack Dixon replied.
Those two teams now top the table with six points from three games, followed
by Park Hill Boys and Shere Punjab who have three.
